[Plasma ACTH, STH and other hormone levels in various groups under chlormethiazole, haloperidol or reserpine load in alchohol delirium, alcoholic hallucinations, and chronic alcoholism].

Studies of 135 men with safely diagnosed alcohol delirium mostly revealed increased ACTH blood values when sober and increased T4 values in about 1/3 of these patients. There is a correlation between the psychiatric clinical picture of the alcohol delirium and the ACTH content of the plasma. Under load with chloromethiazole, halperidole or with reserpine, there is a significant drop in the increased ACTH and T4 values. In an acute alcoholic hallucinosis (n=16) similar endocrinological changes as in most cases of safely diagnosed alcohol delirium were observed. In a chronic alcoholic hallucinosis (n=11) and in chronic alcoholics (n=31) the endocrinological values were similar to those of patients after alcohol delirium.

[Auditory hallucination after minor cerebral infarction].

A 79 year-old man with no previous psychiatric illness developed auditory hallucinosis and discrete persecutory delusions probably on the basis of a small cerebral infarction localized in the left parietal region. The condition responded well to treatment with perphenazine.

[Description of an unusual clinical picture of visual hallucinations (polyopsia, erythropsia) as expression of right temporo-occipital ischemia (visual association cortex, Brodman area 37].

An unusual clinical picture (polypsia and erythropsia) as a consequence of an ischaemic lesion of the temporo-occipital junction, known as Brodman area 37 is reported. CT images showed that the lesion area was linked with the two particular function of visual association and memory peculiar to area 37 and, as is well known in the literature, predominant in right hemisphere damage.

[Episodic manifestation of hemiparkinson syndrome with severe dementia personality change and precursors of paranoid hallucination symptoms].

A case of episodic manifestation of semiparalysis agitans is described, accompanied by severe demential personality change and precursory hallucinatory symptoms, which is made the basis for the discussion of aspects of mental disorders, notably dementia and symptoms resembling schizophrenia, in Parkinsonian patients. By way of allusion to Glass, a diagnosis including a very extensive, complex, symptomatology is made of a Parkinsonian syndrome.
