Possibility of the formation of anterio-lateral composite femoral cutaneous flaps on three different vascular pedicles was proved by topographic-+-anatomical studies on 53 lower extremities. A method of determination of zones of localization of the corresponding cutaneous vessels is proposed. An experience with 12 operations has confirmed that anterio-lateral femoral flaps may be used for autotransplantation independently and in combination with lateral cutaneous femoral flaps as well as for transposition of a permanent vascular pedicle.

This study evaluated the variability of the isokinetic angle-specific torques (ASTs) at 15 and 75 degrees of knee flexion and assessed the relationship between them and the isokinetic peak torque (PT) in 200 healthy adults. The results showed that the value of these AST measurements was lower than of the PT measurements. This was due to larger variability of the AST (male and female coefficient of variation [cv] 34 and 43% in the ASTs vs. 19 and 31% in the PTs); unequal variation in the results between men and women (mean cv 27% in men vs. 34% in women); and fairly poor prediction of the ASTs from the PT (PT accounted for only 39 and 62% for the variation seen in the men's and women's AST results). Furthermore, in regression analysis the standard errors of the estimates were unacceptably high, averaging 26%. AST measurements should not be used routinely.

An original case of fissured superficial femoral aneurysm in a context of arteriomegaly is reported. The analysis of the literature emphasizes the great latency of the disease, and the very low frequency of rupture, especially in this site. The key test for follow-up of the disease is Doppler ultrasound.
Complete rupture of the tendon of the M. biceps femoris proximal to its insertion is a rare occurrence. Relatively few patients have been recorded. We describe a patient with a complete rupture sustained as a result of a water skiing accident, viz. a fall over the stern wave. The case history was in accordance with a theory about the cause of this lesion--sudden overstretching of the hamstrings. The diagnosis was made by physical examination in the acute phase. With the patient in supine, 90 degrees flexed knees position and with isometric contraction of his hamstrings it is easy to mark and palpate a defect of the tendon just proximal to the caput fibulae. After operative reconstruction, a plaster cylinder was used for five weeks' postoperative immobilization. Five weeks after surgery, physical therapy was started, first to regain knee motion, and later to regain strength. Twelve weeks after surgery, the patient resumed working and recreational sports.
