Helping people change, Part 2: The magic of motivation.

The consensus of the data and the interviewed doctors was that the five most profound motivators of people in the workplace today include the following: achievement of well-done work; personal pride and satisfaction in being a part of quality treatment and excellent care of patients; continuing education; respect, responsibility, and appreciation; and equitable compensation. "Motivation is the most critical factor in the productivity of my practice," said Dr. Stelly. "Motivation is the key. If everyone is on the same page and the doctor and key team members can continue to motivate and encourage others, then the sky is the limit. The key is to keep everyone goal oriented, unified, and excited about the possibilities."

["Magic bullets"--monoclonal antibodies in acute leukemia and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma treatment].

Because of high percent of failures in haematologic malignancies treatment there is a need of discovering new drugs. One of the new approaches are monoclonal antibodies, which target specific cluster differentiation antigens on tumor cells. Rituximab is an anti-CD20 antibody used in non-Hodgkin lymphoma, alemtuzumab--in B chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, gemtuzumab ozogamicin--in non-lymphoblastic leukaemia, tositumomab and ibritumomab are monoclonal antibodies binded with radiopharmaceutics and are used in non-Hodgkin lymphomas.

Escaping gravity. Movie magic and dreams of flying.

When movie-goers are thrilled by cinematic imagery portraying transcendent motor action, they are drawn into a world of imagination more often inhabited only in dreams of flying or of perfectly executed motion. The drive toward free and expansive movement which such dreams portray doesn't require explanation in terms of symbolic links to other aims, as has been common in the literature. The aim to achieve mastery in the locomotor sphere of action is a basic aim, in itself, integral to ego development. The developing child could not begin to organize perception, intention, and a coherent sense of self without this drive to move. This proposition is supported by emerging views of the ways the developing nervous system integrates systems mediating perception, action, and affect, which complement observations of the bodycentered development of mutual recognition in infants and their caregivers.
