Integration of nursing informatics in a registered nurse graduate program.

Experienced registered nurses (RNs) are adult learners seeking a program of study in many academic settings to prepare for the advanced practice nursing role. They want a visionary curriculum that builds on their previous experience and develops their creativity in meeting educational goals and objectives [1]. At the Northeastern University College of Nursing in Boston such a program exists. Building on their first foundation course, Professional Development Seminar, RN students are exposed to the Benner Model, From Novice to Expert [2].

How nurses can make informatics work for them.

Nursing is one of the oldest clinical professions; however, it is not enough for today's nurses to be skilled in caring for the sick. They must also become efficient managers of their institution's resources. Emerging and ever-changing computer technology offers many tools that can help nurse managers plan, control, and evaluate the areas they control. This article discusses some the tools that nurses can use to make their jobs both easier and more effective.

The paper outlines the structure and basic directions of activities of the Information Computer Center (ICC) of the Ministry of Health in the Republic of Udmurt. ICC develops of software for polyclinics, hospitals, counting offices, clinical units and other divisions of therapeutical and prophylactic institutions.

[Informatics and evaluation of the medical activity].

Medical activity is characterized by its complexity. Professional guidelines and good wills do not suffice to improve efficiently performances of decisions taken by health care workers, medical doctors and administrators. The evaluation medical activity is a necessity for assisted decision making. The finality of evaluation has to be specified, its methods must be adapted, so that it is accepted by the medical community. In this framework, data processing can be a tremendous way to improve continuously the efficiency of the health care system.
