For estimations of the complaint pattern after comparatable operations per pelviscopiam versus per laparotomiam, in a retrospective study 114 patients after pelviscopic operation and 117 patients after laparotomy were examined. The most important significant differences with an advantage for the pelviscopycally operated patients had been found in asking for postoperative spontaneous miction (84.2% versus 37.2%), spontaneous defecation (68.0% versus 8.1%), the time of completely being free from pain when climbing stair (11.9 compared to 20.8 days), the time when the patient absolutely feel no pain any longer (15.8 compared to 51.7 days), in the average hospitalisation time (3.8 compared to 8.9 days) and the time for unfitness for work (24.5 compared to 48.7 days). Under consideration that also after pelviscopic operations pain occur which are to be treated the present studies confirm the clear improvement of life quality pelviscopic operations.
A total of 43 patients up to 15 years, who underwent appendectomy with preliminary diagnosis of acute appendicitis have been studied at M. Guramishvili Pediatric Clinic in 2004-2005 years. Procalcitonin concentration has been defined in patients' blood sera using the immunoluminometric method (LUMITest PCT, BRAHMS Diagnostika, Berlin, Germany). Analysis of procalcitonin in different groups of patients has shown that increase in procalcitonin correlates with disease severity, and maximally increases in case of peritonitis due to acute destructive appendicitis. The procalcitonin level can be used to confirm the diagnosis of acute appendicitis. It has been suggested that procalcitonin can be used not only as diagnostic marker for acute appendicitis but also as a prognostic marker of it's complications. Using of procalcitonin in case of acute appendicitis would help to carry out timely surgical interventions and predict disease complications.
Method of correlation and regression analysis in a computor was used which enabled the authors to make a formula of the relationship between the development of complications after radical operations for carcinoma of the colon and rectum (583 patients). The authors have made a classification of the degrees of complication risk which is sufficiently simple for practical use.

The authors make a review of the literature on the complications which occur after thyroidectomy. They report, moreover, a study carried out on 192 thyroidectomy performed between January 1992 and May 1995. The surgical technique employed foresees the systematic search for and saving of laryngeal nerves fibers and the parathyroid gland. Results were the incidence of postoperative hypocalcemia and of permanent hypocalcemia. The authors also analyse problems related to laryngeal nerves in matters of thyroid surgery. After a short introduction on surgical anatomy, attention is drawn to the "recurrent nerve risk" but also the superior laryngeal nerve too, often injured with modifications of the vocal tone and serious consequences for particular professional groups.
Hemorrhage, ischemia and ischemic edema are among the complications which may occur following neurosurgery and they represent the most frequent cause of neurological deterioration. The mechanisms predisposing vascular complications (hemorrhage, ischemia) are described and discussed in relation to systemic alterations associated with surgery and anesthesia. In addition, the physiopathology of these complications is discussed in the various pathologies: cancer, vascular malformations, trauma and the intra-operative diagnostic possibilities which prevent their onset.
This article presents a brief review of posthepatic transplantation anatomy and a synopsis of the role of imaging in posthepatic transplantation complications. Screening ultrasonography is used to detect vascular stenosis or occlusion. T-tube cholangiography is used to detect biliary leak or obstruction. Thoughtful use of conventional radiographs, ultrasonography, CT, percutaneous cholangiography, and MR imaging for problem solving in detection and management of complications, such as abdominal fluid collections, can make the difference between graft survival or failure.
