We describe a patient in whom a chronic expanding hematoma was pathologically confirmed by examination of the resected specimen. It developed gradually in the left lateral thigh, which had been bruised 8 months before, but had produced no mass-related symptoms initially. Computed tomography (CT) showed the mass to be homogeneous with capsule formation, whereas ultrasonography showed it to resemble a multilocular cyst. The lesion was treated by complete excision of a perifascial mass. Grossly, a well-circumscribed, fusiform mass with a soft cystic center and a fibrous pseudocapsule was observed. Histologically, the mass was composed of necrotic debris, fibrin and blood clots. This was surrounded by a rim of hyalinized fibrous tissue with a chronic inflammatory infiltrate and granulation tissue with sprouting new capillaries. CT was unable to discriminate the chronic expanding hematoma from other soft tissue masses, ultrasonography being needed to reveal its characteristics in this case.
Epidermoid carcinoma of jugal mucosa is an aggressive tumor. Its treatment is based on broad excision and reconstruction in order to avoid fibrosis and restriction of mouth opening. Neck dissection and radiotherapy are indicated in selected cases. We display our experience with microvascularized flaps with the aim of preventing the flaws. We reconsider 8 patients (representing 10 flaps) handle in our Department. Besides we discuss other therapeutic alternatives after the growth's removal. The conclusion reached is that the mucovascularized forearm flaps give a great quantity of thin tissue and therefore so results to be the best option for the reconstruction of the jugal mucosa.
OBJECTIVE: The aim of the work was to study the change for blood pour into the artery fascial flap and oxygen metabolic in tissue that knew the process of the flap. METHODS: We do the artery fascial flap in the rabbit, then measured the skin capillary blood flow and the content of the MDA. RESULTS: The content of the MDA rise when the blood flow descends in the flap, but it lives well. CONCLUSIONS: That the content of the MDA rise as time the blood flow descend in the flap is a gradual process of the whole flap from tip to end, the flap will not appear necrosis until the MDA reach a rather degree.
This study describes a lateral extra-articular tenodesis using a short strip of ilio-tibial band. The tenodesis consists of a 12 x 75 mm strip of iliotibial band remaining attached to the Gerdy's tubercle. An isometric point in the region of Krackow's point F-9 is determined with a callipers. The strip of iliotibial band is twisted by 180 degrees to enhance its isometry. Then it is either onlay with a screw and spiked washer on the F-9 point, or within a transverse tunnel drilled through the lateral femoral condyle, from the F-9 point, using and interference screw. Thus, the uses of a short ilio-tibial band tenodesis with a 180 degrees twist in combination with a BPTB reconstruction of the ACL, leads to similar results that the combined classic Lemaire tenodesis, with shorter skin incision, shorter graft harvesting, and at least on the biomechanical standpoint a better graft isometry.
