[Modulatory capability of the somatosensory afferents through acupuncture reflexotherapy].

This paper concerns the influence of the acupuncture on the somatic afferent volley. As the main used points in experimental acupuncture, we stimulated 4GI and 7H. The results confirm the modulatory influence of the acupuncture on the somesthetic afference and, also, its different mode of action related with the nature of the point stimulated.

[Serotoninergic and catecholaminergic indices in patients with neurotic and depressive disorders and changes in them as a result of reflexotherapy].

The status of the serotoninergic and catecholaminergic systems was studied in patients with neurotic depressive disorders before and after acupuncture (AP). The parameters studied included blood serotonin levels, monoamine oxidase (MAO) activity in the blood serum, as well as urinary excretion of adrenaline, noradrenaline, dopamine, DOPA and 5-HOIAA. Prior to AP patients with anxiety-depressive, depressive-hypochondriac or asthenodepressive manifestations showed different changes in the parameters studied. Following a course of AP they presented a compensatory increase in MAO activity, normalization of blood serotonin levels and of the urinary excretion of noradrenaline, dopamine and DOPA. Improvement in biochemical parameters indicates that this type of therapy is an effective means of the treatment of patients with neuroses with the predominance of depressive disorders.

[Use of preventive reflexotherapy in workers at an electrode-manufacturing plant].

Reflexoprevention was carried out in 5 workers engaged in electrode production and exposed to such occupational factors as high gas and dust loading, heating microclimate, significant physical stress at workplace. Electropuncture was carried out by means of an electrostimulator EPB-50-01. The workers were exposed only to heating microclimate and physical load. Positive effect of reflexoprevention was confirmed.

[Status of the autonomic nervous system and reflexotherapy in children with vasomotor rhinitis].

Different variants of vegetative nervous system dysfunction were identified during the examination of 86 children with vasomotor rhinitis. Based on the findings of the examination a pathogenetically-based method of acupuncture was proposed for the management of this patients' group. Acupuncture with regard to vegetative dysfunction attenuated the latter's manifestations and corrected associated psychoemotional disorders. As a result the clinical manifestations of vasomotor rhinitis were eliminated.

[Use of electroacupuncture reflexotherapy in myopia].

Electroacupuncture (EAP) has been used in the management of schoolchildren with slight myopia and of senior schoolchildren with high myopia. A follow-up of 5 years has demonstrated that EAP has stopped the progress of myopia, normalized the accommodation system, improved the natural vision acuity and other visual functions.
