Laser-Doppler-flowmetry is used to show whether electrical stimulation of the rats tooth pulp leads to reactions such as neurogenic inflammations. Following electrical stimulation, a flow reduction with a subsequent flow increase can be observed After experimental elimination it can be shown that both sympathetic and nociceptive fibres are involved in this reaction. Thus the neurogenic inflammation of the dental pulp is a mechanism allowing early and localised reactions to noxious stimuli.
Prader-Labhart-Willi Syndrome is a complex, multisystem sporadic disorder which presents during childhood and proceeds into adulthood. The major features include infantile hypotonia, developmental delay, hypogonadism with abnormal sexual maturation, mental retardation and behavior abnormalities, short stature with small hands and feet, massive obesity with diabetes mellitus, dysmorphic facial features, and marked dental caries and enamel hypoplasia. Recently, a deletion of chromosome 15 has been found in a large percentage of these patients, but the exact cause and genetic transmission has not yet been determined. Two cases of Prader-Labhart-Willi Syndrome are presented with emphasis on the differential diagnosis of enamel hypoplasia associated with sexual maturation.
Presents data on functioning of the oral cavity local immunity organ, gingival groove. Analyzes a relationship between the counts and functional activities of the cells from the gingival groove and oral cavity washing, specific features of these cells in various conditions of the maxillodental segment.

The authors, after an analysis of the laser structure and its main utilization, present some clinical reports in which the pain is resolved by soft-laser applications.
An inflammatory response occurs in the pulp tissue following the application of dental materials due to their chemical properties and/or a secondary bacterial irritation. Recently, a new line of composite resin products with reported improved esthetic qualities was designed to allow an intimate adherence with the dentin. This intense bonding could prevent bacterial penetration and marginal discoloration of these restorations. In addition, this method allows prevention of excessive removal of hard tissue. The present study examines pulpal reaction to capping with P-10 composite resin (Dental Products, USA) in rats. Histological examination did not reveal any inflammatory reaction in the nonexposed pulps. Direct pulp capping with P-10 induced formation of reparative dentin bridges.
The biocompatibility of the composite resin materials Exposit and Evicrol was tested by functional studies of the rat incisor and the biological test of the dental pulp of pigs. Exposit shows mainly reversible reactions of the vascular connective tissue both in the vital-microscopical examination of the immediate reaction and in short-term tests (24 hours, 7 days), where positive adaptation reactions (new vessels and revascularization) are to be observed. Evicrol causes distinct and irreversible damages in the pulp of the rat incisor. The results of the vital-microscopical examination are proven by histological checks of the rat incisor. In the morphological picture Exposit shows in pig teeth mainly slight and partly moderate inflammatory pulpal reactions after a period of 30 and 90 days. For Evicrol, however, severe reactions with a massive accumulation of inflammatory cells is to be observed after a period of 30 days. Despite an acceptable and, compared to Evicrol, a better biocompatibility of Exposit there is a demand for an exact pulp protection.

The bactericidal and growth inhibiting effects of disinfectants on Streptococcus and Candida strains were tested in vitro. Chlorhexidine, when used in tiny concentrations (0.0001-0.0039%) inhibits the growth of Streptococci. With Wofasteril 0.32%) all Streptococci and Candida were killed within a minute. Next to a good bacteria inhibitor (0.001-0.032%), a sufficient bactericidal effect on Streptococci is shown by hydrogen peroxide when used in a 4% concentration and warmed to 45 degrees Centigrade (degrees C).
Clinical and experimental studies of the dental enamel and dentin microhardness were carried out. A comparative analysis has made it possible to detect parallels in the changes of dental tissue microhardness in humans and dogs. The studies have revealed a focal pattern of demineralization, with the foci located mainly in the neck of the tooth and the pericervical portion of the root, indicating a considerable reduction of the functional resistance of pulpless teeth.
Several factors prior to, during and after treatment may complicate root canal therapy. In this article several of these complications are discussed together with their possible solutions to these problems.

Great caution is required when choosing materials coming into direct contact with pulpal tissue. The aim of this study was to assess the connective tissue tolerance to Cap-cap and Cinacal, clinically used for pulp capping, in experimental animals. On the basis of tissue reactions around implanted material specimens at intervals of 2, 14 and 28 days after application, the two materials were found to belong to a group of biocompatible materials. Marked infiltration with inflammatory cells around Cap-cap specimens during the first few days after injection pointed to irritative feature of the material as compared to Cinacal, possibly attributable to eugenol, a Cap-cap constitutive component.
Due to the lowered resistance of the organism, acute pulpitic manifestations without discoverable external cause or exacerbation of chronic periapical processes may occur in the cours of influenza infections. Suggestions for therapy are given on the basic of some case resports.

The targeted removal of dental hard tissues for the purposes of crown stump preparation may be designated as rational if the technique used ist atraumatic and implies the deliberate use of driving systems within different speed ranges and the utilization of adapted abrasive tools in a phase-synchronous and segment-oriented manner. Goal of the preparation is to realize a copy of the clinical crown that is reduced in size, presents less details and has a defined line of preparation.
