Studies of the main factors causing allergic diseases, level and structure of allergic morbidity proved the prevalence of contact allergic dermatitis and urticaria among hot-house plant workers. Opportunistic bacteria and Streptococcus pyogenes were found to play an important role in sensitization of vegetable growers. The rational employment of subjects suffering from allergic diseases is recommended.

Comprehensive evaluation of work conditions of workers of different occupational groups (bulldozer, excavator and boring machine operators, embroideresses) helped create a new parameter of occupation harmfulness evaluation: mean arithmetic value and root-mean-square digression. The main parameters of transitory disablement morbidity were found connected with the integral parameter of harmful environmental factors, which helped define the morbidity increase per 1 harmfulness grade for men and women and predict the morbidity levels of workers depending on their work conditions.
Workers engaged in production of household chemical goods (paints, synthetic detergents, aerosols) are exposed to harmful factors (noise levels higher than the maximal allowable ones, concentration of chemical agents in the air surpassing the MACs). Such work conditions are estimated as unfavourable according to the hygienic classification. The total morbidity and some nosologic forms (respiratory, digestive, locomotor systems and skin) are growing in number especially in workers of aerosol production. Statistic analysis revealed that the length of service was directly related to the level of total morbidity and the incidence of gastrointestinal diseases in the workers engaged in manufacture of household chemical goods.

The clinical effect of antibiotics in treatment of children at the age of 2 months to 5 years with acute pneumonia during a gnotobiological department in the wards of the 1st class purity and under the conditions of a routine pediatric hospital was estimated. The course of the antibiotic therapy amounted to 4.7 +/- 0.42 days in the gnotobiological department and 12.0 +/- 0.3 days in the routine hospital. After recovery the patients were discharged in 7.61 +/- 0.76 days from the gnotobiological department and in 15.2 +/- 1.11 days from the routine hospital.

Studies of thermoregulation (skin and body temperature) and heat exchange in humans engaged in physical work of different type and intensity in variable environmental temperatures provided coefficients of 'cover' and 'core' mixing to calculate the mean body temperature and changes in heat content. The derived coefficient for a certain individual depended on body cooling and on the intensity of physical work.
A more precise method to score the mean temperature of human body exposed to a wide range of heat was worked out. The work produced formula describing the correlation between the changes of mean body temperature and human thermal status, which lets score the degree of overheating and/or cooling from heat content.
Heat status was examined in machine open-cast mine extracting workers of Armenia to establish the prophylactic measures against overheating for optimal thermal status of the body. At the end of the working shift during the warm season machine workers showed the strain of heat status demonstrated the necessity of the additional 20 minutes rest after the 2nd trip during the warm season. Traditional drinks can be recommended to compensate for marked loss of moisture.
During 1963-1990 professional disease were registered in 336 sinkers (vibration disease--42.6%; hypoacusis--35.1%; silicosis and dust-induced bronchitis--11.3 and 7.4% respectively). The mean morbidity level of professional diseases in sinkers was 12.0 per 1000 (vibration disease--4.9, hypoacusis--6.4). The level of silicosis reduced 2.9 times.
A follow-up (1985, 1990, 1991) study revealed in female workers of hydroponic hothouses an increase of the incidence of nervous system diseases depending on the length of work (vegeto-vascular dystonia, angiodystonic syndromes, vegeto-sensory polyneuropathy). It is suggested that the main cause of nervous lesions in these cases was the complex effect of pesticides.
