[Esthetic adhesive filling in posterior teeth--an illusion?].

This study demonstrates once more the high caries incidence of the proximal surfaces of molar teeth. If the lesions are completely excavated so that the cervical margin is free of any caries, more than 33-57% of all cavities, depending on the type of tooth, are not suited for acid etch procedures, because there is less than 1 mm of sound enamel, or none at all. In these cases the adhesive filling technique is contraindicated.

Clinical evaluation of direct esthetic restorations in cervical abrasion/erosion lesions: one-year results.

One hundred sixteen cervical abrasion/erosion lesions were restored with one of the following techniques: (1) glass-ionomer cement, (2) composite resin with a dentinal bonding agent, or (3) composite resin with a glass-ionomer cement liner and a dentinal bonding agent. The restorations were assessed at baseline and at 6 months and 1 year postrestoration for retention, caries, color match, marginal staining, and surface texture. No statistically significant differences were found in retention, caries, color match, or marginal staining. A statistically significant difference was found with regard to surface texture: glass-ionomer cement restorations demonstrated a rougher surface than did the composite resin restorations. A substantial number of restorations composed of composite resin with a dentinal bonding agent demonstrated a color shift towards mismatch when evaluated at 6 months. This difference was not significant at the 1-year followup.

[The humanist Raphael, the structures of the face and their esthetic appreciation].

His knowledge of antique culture thanks Raphael to his lectures of Dante and Petrarque, to the humanists of Urbino mostly to his friend Castiglione--and to those of the papal court, and also to the recently discovered ancient sculptures. He painted the faces of the Italians of his time in portraits and historical frescoes, his idealised faces in allegories of antiquity and religious paintings, specially in his madonnas where his preferred type of the face is oval an lengthened.

[Esthetic impact of the Le Fort I type osteotomy].

The study of a population treated according to orthodontico-surgical process with only a LE FORT I osteotomy allowed us to determinate the moderate influence on each element of curtain profile (nose, lips and chin). The comparison between relative moving of maxillary and the one of each cutaneous structures enable us to define the sagittal and vertical displacement's ratios of curtain profile.
