[Value of the treadmill test, bicycle ergometry test and the isometric test in evaluating the severity of coronary insufficiency].
Possibilities of the treadmill test, bicycle ergometry and the isometric test are reviewed with respect to the diagnosis and assessment of the severity of coronary heart disease (CHD). A study of 40 normal males and 95 coronary patients (including 57 aneurysm-free ones and 38 with left ventricular postinfarction aneurysm) demonstrated low diagnostic value of standard dynamic load programs for the assessment of coronary insufficiency. An original treadmill test program has been developed where each new step carries a 1 MET increment of the load, allowing to assess the severity of CHD within a wide range of clinical manifestations, and group patients according to the involvement of 1 or 2 coronary arteries. The isometric test is of little value for the diagnosis of CHD, yet it can be useful in the assessment of the severity of coronary insufficiency and identification of patients with the involvement of 2 and 3 coronary arteries.

Vision therapy as a treatment for motion sickness.
A case of visually-induced motion sickness (VIMS) is presented. The patient underwent a program of dynamic adaptive vision therapy which relieved her symptoms of motion sickness. Symptoms of VIMS may include photophobia, an inability to read in a moving auto, and nausea, dizziness, headache, eye strain and anxiety following provocative visual stimuli. The neural mismatch theory is discussed.

Parent-child communication and adolescent sexual behavior.
Data collected over a two-year period from more than 500 teenagers and their mothers indicate that neither parental attitudes toward premarital sex nor parent-child communication about sex and contraception appear to affect teenagers' subsequent sexual and contraceptive behavior. Teenagers are often ignorant of their parents' attitudes toward sex-related issues, and they and their parents often contradict one another in describing the kinds of sex-related conversations they have had. In only two cases was a significant relationship found between communication and adolescent behavior: Girls whose mothers reported that they had discussed sex with their daughters were less likely to subsequently initiate coitus; and girls who reported that their mothers had discussed birth control with them were more likely to use effective contraceptives. However, the former association disappeared when it was the daughters who reported the communication, and the latter disappeared when it was the mothers who reported it.

Abortion in adolescence.
This article reviews the difficult but complex subject of abortion in adolescents. Methods of abortion are outlined and additional aspects are presented: psychological effects, counseling issues, and legal parameters. It is our conclusion that intense efforts should be aimed at education of youth about sexuality and prevention of pregnancy, utilizing appropriate contraceptive services. When confronted with a youth having an unwanted pregnancy, all legal options need to be carefully explored: delivery, adoption, or abortion. The decision belongs to the youth and important individuals in her environment. Understanding developmental aspects of adolescence will help the clinician deal with the pregnant teenagers. If abortion is selected, a first trimester procedure is best. Finally, physicians are urged to be aware of the specific, ever changing legal dynamics concerning this subject which are present in their states. Abortion is a phenomenon which has become an emotional but undeniably important aspect of adolescent sexuality and adolescent health care, in this country and around the world.
