"The aim of the research project is to assess which factors determine remarriage or cohabitation after divorce [in Belgium]. The research is based on data of 766 divorcees whose divorce took place in 1978. The chances of remarriage [or] cohabitation were evaluated using proportional hazard models and loglinear analysis. Special attention was paid to the effects of the number of children and age." (SUMMARY IN ENG AND FRE)

"This article examines whether women who experienced parental divorce behave differently with respect to leaving the parental home, cohabitation, marriage and birth than women who grew up in families with both natural parents.... Data are used from the Netherlands Fertility Survey conducted in February 1988....[Results show that] women who [lived] with one of the natural parents were more likely to have left home than women who [lived] with both natural parents. Women from one-parent families also cohabited more than women from two-parent families....For the divorce-rates no significant difference between the two categories of women was found.... Married women aged 18-37 who grew up in one-parent families have fewer children than other women." An English-language version of this article is available from the publisher. (SUMMARY IN ENG)
