[Immunopathology of lymphatic systemic diseases].

Immunopathological findings in the various non-Hodgkin lymphomas are summarized in this report, with special emphasis on recent results with monoclonal antibodies. Results are presented in different types of lymphocytic lymphoma, in those derived from the germinal centre, from T-lymphocytes of "central" and "peripheral" origin and in some disorders involving early precursors of B-lymphocytes. These diseases very probably represent maturation defects ("frozen states") of defined subpopulations of lymphoid cells. The possible diagnostic role of immunoperoxidase and immunofluorescence techniques in cell suspensions and, particularly, in frozen sections of diseased tissues obtained from patients with lymphomas and leukaemias is discussed.

[Roentgenoradionuclide study of the lymphatic system of the liver (development of the method and criteria for the evaluation of extravascular plasma flow)].

An attempt was made to develop an instrumental method for the evaluation of the extravascular plasma flow (lymph flow) of the liver. Ultrasonography of the liver does not give an opportunity to differentiate between different states including those accompanied by the excess lymph discharge into the liver. The results of intraparenchymal lymphography of the liver were analysed in patients with and without biliary and portal hypertension. The authors have singled out 11 criteria that make it possible to judge an elevated production of the lymph in the liver. This procedure possesses some instability of results due to the equipment, the doctor's experience and the number of attempts. A method of " radioangiolymphography " of the liver based on the administration of diffusing and nondiffusing radionuclides in the afferent vessels of the liver was worked out. Variation in the parameters of the radionuclide circulation seems to reflect significantly extrahepatic circulation in the liver and holds great promise for the use in hepatology.

Serum levels of bleomycin released from the lymphatic system.

Endolymphatic injection Oil-Bleo (Nippon Kayaku, Japan) was performed on 24 patients for treatment of residual retroperitoneal malignant lymphoma detected after intravenous chemotherapy. The drug was administered once only in a dosage of 60 mg/30 mg per foot. Serum levels of the drug were monitored. The results were compared with data obtained after routine intravenous infusion of aqueous bleomycin to patients with advanced cervical cancer. The results revealed that bleomycin administered intralymphatically reaches maximum concentration after 15 minutes, and bleomycin after intravenous administration reaches maximum concentration at 36 hours.
