[The relationship of the population dynamics of gamasid mites with the population dynamics of their murine rodent hosts in the Sikhote-Alin].

22,500 mites were collected from 4515 rodents over a period of 5 years in the Sikhote-Alin reserve. The abundance dynamics of 4, out of 5, most numerous species of mites (Laelaps pavlovskyi, L. clethrionomydis, Eulaelaps stabularis, Haemogamasus serdjukovae) depends on the cyclic fluctuations in the number of rodents. A direct connection between the annual and, to some extent, seasonal dynamics of the abundance of parasites and that of their hosts is most distinct in L. pavlovskyi, an epizoon parasite of the large Japanese field mouse. At the same time the abundance of Hg. ambulans, a multihost parasite of small mammals, does not depend on the number of animals. Certain regularities in the abundance dynamics of gamasid mites in connection with that of their hosts, rodents, is discussed on the basis of obtained material and literary data.

[Population-genetic study of the blood lipids of the aboriginal population of the Obian North].

Lipid metabolism (total cholesterol, triglycerides, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol) was shown to be dependent on age, while the atherogenic coefficient was unrelated to age both in males and females. Heritability coefficients have been calculated for the above-mentioned parameters on the basis of intrafamilial correlations analysis. Interclass coefficients of the parent-parent correlations suggest the absence of common environmental effects. Significant associations of all three with phenylthiocarbamide, and of hypertriglyceridemia with phenotype MN (p less than 0.05) were demonstrated in females. The determination coefficient has shown the PTC and MN to make the greatest contribution to blood lipid variability.

[Study of the distribution of HLA antigens within a population and a comparison between 2 populations].

HLA complex is made up of numerous loci whose alleles are codominant. Several associations between HLA antigens and diseases have been identified. Analysis of these associations require statistical methods taking into account the number of tests and the existence of alleles which have not yet been identified. Statistical methods for the estimation and the comparison of alleles frequencies are presented for genotypic, phenotypic and marginal data. An example concerning patients with medullary thyroid carcinoma illustrates these methods.
