[The personality of the alcohol. Socio-cultural, psychopathological and psychodynamic variables].

86 chronic alcoholics hospitalized in three psychiatric clinics, were studied through a questionnaire and the Szondi Projective Test. Dividing the sample into two groups, "social" and psychotic alcoholics brought several significant differences to light. The mean age of the psychotic patients was lower than of the "social" alcoholics, suggesting that the pathology of the former had begun sooner. Furthermore, the projective test revealed that the pathology of the psychotic patients was qualitatively different in that they use negation and selfblocking defense mechanisms at a self-destructive level. This hinders individualization and fixates the patient, without internal consistency, at a level of pre-genital regression which is manifested in their social marginality.

[Medical flight certification of civil pilots with cardiovascular pathologies].

Comprehensive examination of civil pilots including the clinical-physiological and mental tests was performed with the purpose to improve the system of expert evaluation of health and fight fitness of pilots with cardiovascular pathologies. Mental tests consisted of an MMPI modification, the standard multifactor personality test, portrait choice (adapted Szondi's eight inclinations test), and predictive drawing tests of the unconscious. Type of personality of the persons with cardiovascular pathologies were characterized in terms of individual traits, social behavior, thinking type, stress reaction, protective tactics, and form of deadaptation. Persons with a variety of premorbid cardiovascular pathologies (essential hypertension, atherosclerosis, and neurocirculatory dystonia) reveal specific traits that should be taken into consideration in the process of medical flight certification.

[The personality structure of drug users].

34 drug users were examined with a questionnaire and Szondi's Projective Test. They were divided into three groups in order to permit statistical comparisons and interpretation of their drive structures as well as differential characteristics. The results of Szondi's Test reveal a profound imbalance in personality and in the possibility of object relationship, the latter showing differences between the sexes. Both groups react with numerous pathological symptoms, which are likely due to the consumption of drugs and to previous destructuring. The institutionalized drug users present conflicts which appear to be social rather than familial or psychological. For the other groups, difficulties of psychic structure and social integration appear to be due to family problems.

Purification of a monoclonal IgA with antiheparin activity.

A monoclonal IgA with antiheparin activity was obtained from a hyperlipidemic plasma. For the separation of the IgA antibody the plasma was passed through a column of Bio-Gel P-6 to eliminate the unbound heparin. As a second step, intervent dilution chromatography was used. The active peak of the intervent dilution chromatography was finally purified on heparin coupled to epoxy-activated sepharose 6B at pH 4.0. The obtained fraction gave a single arc with sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Using a lower pH (pH 2.8) for the separation, an aggregation of the IgA molecule was observed. Either the monomere or the aggregated IgA had a strong antiheparin activity. The presence of this antiheparin antibody is suggesting the possibility that certain immunoglobulins may play a role as heparin inhibitors in the development of hyperlipidemias.
