[Value of radiological diagnosis in the complex study of femur head necrosis in children. 1. Plain film and arthography in the framework of complex studies of femur head necrosis].

The results of complex investigations of case history, clinical methods, plain film radiology, laboratory findings, arthrography, histology, scintigraphy, and angiography give information of the picture of necrosis of the femoral head ossification center. Especially from the radiological diagnosis conclusions can be drawn for secondary prevention, diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy.

[Value of radiological diagnosis in the complex study of femur head necrosis in children. 2. Scintigraphic and arteriographic studies in the framework of the complex diagnosis of femur head necrosis].

101 scintigraphic investigations and 42 angiograms show that the vascular tamponade is the decisive factor for the beginning of necrosis of the femoral head ossification center. Plain films, scintigraphy and angiography give information of the duration of the disease. Extent and localisation of the circulatory disturbance are important for the prognosis of the disease. From stage classification and prognostic factors the conclusions for therapy can be drawn.

[Experiences with interlocking nails in the femur. A retrospective analysis of 99 operated femur shaft fractures].

In 95 patients 99 femoral fractures treated with an intramedullary locking nail were followed-up for median 22 months (12-60). 62 results were classified as excellent, 19 as good and 16 results as fair. A poor result was registered in 2 patients. We had 13 operation-related complications. Four of these complications required a new operation and one ended up with a poor end-result. Operative-technical complications do not necessarily need to impair the result if the surgeon is aware of them and knows how they are to be handled.

[Surgical treatment of unstable trochanteric fractures of the femur. III. Comparative studies of the tensile strength of osteosynthesis in trochanteric fractures of the femur using angular and intramedullary Y nails].

Here is shown a comparison of endurance in different types of connected trochanteric fractures by the use of angular and intramedullary Y nails. Studies were made on 24 isolated femora, upon which an osteotomy was performed so as to experimentally reconstruct trochanteric fractures of the II, III and IV degree. Bone fragments were connected by the use of angular or intramedullary Y nails. Such connected bones underwent the gradual increase of weight in order to test the endurance of the connections applied. It was established that the angular nail stabilizes fragments in fractures of the II degree, but in fractures of the III degree it can only serve as a bone suture. On the other hand it is of no use in connected fractures of the IV degree. The intramedullary Y nail stabilizes bone fragments well in fractures of the II and III degree, as well as in fractures of the IV degree. The connection of trochanteric fractures of the II degree by use of the intramedullary Y nail is more beneficial than connection by use of the angular nail due an approximately doubled endurance in connections of this kind.
