By the year 2000, about 700,000 nurses in the United States will be working in some type of ambulatory care setting. The changing economics of health care and the growth of ambulatory care help form the challenges faced by nurses in ambulatory care administration. Documenting value, updating skill bases, changing reimbursement, and personal advancement are some of the key administrative issues in ambulatory care today.
