[Combined use of an antihypoxic agent and a B-cell stimulator].

Evaluation of the effect of poviargol on the B cells of mice showed that the drug activity is retained for 21 h upon single injection. An analysis of the refractory period between the B-cell stimulant introduction and the administration of various antihypoxants showed that the most effective treatment is provided by poviargol injection 14 days before and antihypoxant (IEM-1875 preparation) 30 min before the hypoxia model induction. This regime, ensuring the best protection of experimental animals from hypoxia, can be of great importance and value in the prophylaxis of hypoxia in various pathological conditions.

[Comparison of the antibacterial activity on oral pathogens among six types of nano-silver base inorganic antibacterial agents].

OBJECTIVE: To Compare the antibacterial activity on oral pathogens among six types of nano-silver base inorganic antibacterial agents. METHODS: The oral pathogens selected were Streptococcus mutans(ATCC6715),Lactobacillus (ATCC4356),Actinomyces viscosus (ATCC19246), Candida Albicans (ATCC76615), Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC25923), Escherichia coli (ATCCC25922). Minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) was determined by Liquid dilution method. RESULTS: Nano-silver base inorganic antibacterial agents had fine bactericidal activity against oral pathogens. The general antibacterial activity of six types were nearly equal. CONCLUSION: It is possible that nano-silver base inorganic antibacterial agents can be used in dental antibacterial materials.

The effects of air-abrasion on dentin, enamel, and metal bonding.

PURPOSE: To determine the most effective emission pressure for producing effective bond strengths of an adhesive resin to enamel, dentin and metal. METHODS: Test specimens were prepared from bovine teeth for enamel and dentin samples and from alloy disks cast in an Ag-Pd-Cu-Au alloy. All specimen substrates were ground flat and finished with 600-grit SiC paper. The prepared specimens were randomly divided into groups of eight including a control (no abrasion) or air-abraded with 50 microm Al2O3 delivered at three emission pressures of 60, 45 and 30 psi, respectively. Following conditioning, 4-META/MMA-TBB resin was bonded to the specimen surfaces. Specimens were stored in 37 degrees C water for 24 hours, then thermocycled 20,000 times (4 degrees C-60 degrees C), and shear bond tested. Data were analyzed by ANOVA for statistical significance. RESULTS: Enamel specimens showed no statistically significant difference from the control (no air abrasion). Dentin specimens displayed a significant difference from control at 60 and 45 psi, but no significant difference from the control at 30 psi. Alloy specimens showed significantly higher bond strengths from the control at all emission pressures (P< 0.05).

[How I treat... the critical bacterial colonization of a leg ulcer. The Yin and the Yang features of silver-based dressings].

The critical bacterial colonizaion of leg ulcers can impair their healing rate, aggravate the patient discomfort and increase the medical and nursing costs. In recent times, the dressings designed for leg ulcers have followed a pace of conceptual revolution. Some of them are now offered containing an antiseptic of the silver salt family. The silver concentraton delivered into the wound bed is important to consider when assessing treatment efficacy. The diversity of the silver-based dressings currently on the European market is as large as their differences in activity. Only a minority of these dressings adequately control the wound biocenosis. Their cost which is high for the patient, must be compared to that of nursing care that may become less important. The expected beneficit is a reduction in healing time.
