[The combined use of functional biocontrol and acupuncture reflexotherapy in children with the spastic forms of infantile cerebral palsy].

An optimal method of rehabilitation is outlined for children with movement disorders due to spastic cerebral paralysis. It implies combined use of functional biocontrol and acupuncture. In drug intolerance the treatment acquires special significance. The effectiveness of these two modalities comes from mutual potentiation effect on central regulation of motor functions as shown by electrophysiological findings. Marked positive shifts in clinical and electrophysiological patterns develop within 15 training procedures with the external feedback in addition to 11 sessions of acupuncture.

[The urodynamics of the lower urinary tract and central nervous system function during the reflexotherapy of patients with nocturnal enuresis].

Uroflowmetry revealed impaired urodynamics of the lower urinary tract in 116 out of 147 patients with nocturnal enuresis; 99 cases displayed high values of maximal volumetric urination rates; the curve of an uroflowgram had a configuration characteristic of the disease 60 patients showed electroencephalographic characteristics of brain function. After reflex therapy, an electroencephalogram (EEG) became normal in 31 patients, it tended to normalize in 8. Reflex therapy exerted a steady-state effect in the patients who had not shown EEG abnormalities before the therapy and in those whose EEG parameters became normal after the therapy.

[Functional state of kinesthetic and acoustic analyzers in children with enuresis after complex reflexotherapy].

A study was made of the time-course of changes in function of kinesthetic and acoustic sensitivity in children (n-62) aged 9 to 14 years suffering from enuresis undergoing acupuncture based on cauterization of acupuncture points with 25% silver nitrate. The patients with enuresis manifested normalization of the sensitivity of the analyzers under study. The clinical results of enuresis treatment depend on the degree of correction of the alterations in function of the analyzers. The measurement of the threshold sensitivity of the sensory systems can be used for the control of the efficacy of the therapeutic measures taken in patients suffering from enuresis.

[The immunocorrective effect of laser reflexotherapy in experimental influenza infection].

The influence of two schemes of laser acupuncture on some cell-mediated and humoral immunity characteristics of mice, as well as on their nonspecific antiviral resistance, in acute experimental influenza infection has been studied. The use of both schemes has been found to considerably decrease the severity of infection, enhancing the activity of lymphocytes of infected mice in the graft versus host reaction, the O2-producing activity of alveolar macrophages and modulating the ratio of antihemagglutinins and nonspecific antiviral inhibitors in the blood serum.

[Uterine contractile activity in parturients of a group at risk for prolonged pregnancy prepared for labor by acupuncture reflexotherapy].

Prenatal preparation by using acupuncture was studied for effects on the clinical course and uterine contractility in 181 parturients who were at a high risk for prolonged pregnancy. With prenatal acupuncture, labor occurred in time in most parturients. Seven (3.8%) labors were delayed, 4 babies were born having signs of postmaturity. Antenatal amniotic fluid discharge was seen in 19% of the parturients, uterine inertia occurred in 19.8%, Cesarean deliveries were observed in 24 parturients. Internal tocographic assessment of uterine contractility revealed higher amplitudes, which contributed to the favorable course of labors. Acupuncture favored term labor in the pregnant females, the pattern of uterine contractility showed no changes during the delivery.

[Results of the complex conservative ambulatory treatment of cervical osteochondrosis including acupuncture-reflexotherapy].

The authors have carried out clinical observation and treatment of 78 patients with cervical osteochondrosis with manifestations of hypermobility of the cervical spine. The complex of curative measures included administration of mild massage of the collar area and the upper extremities, stage-by-stage exercise therapy, distraction of the cervical spine according to a specially elaborated technique and acureflexotherapy (ART). A comparative analysis of efficiency of the treatment including ART and without it testified to considerable improvement of the results of the treatment in combination with ART.
