[Correction of disorders of oxidative processes in toxic liver injury using enterosorption].

Liver injury with tetrachloromethane in white rats is accompanied by accumulation of hydroperoxides in the blood plasma and liver tissue and suppression of antioxidant system (the activity of superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase, contents of SH-groups and total phospholipids drastically decreases). Ceruloplasmin level in plasma, on the contrary, increases. Enterosorbent SUGS-E in a dose of 19 g/kg partially normalizes violated balance between the activity of free radical processes and state of the antioxidant protection system.

[The enterosorption treatment of patients with acute intestinal infections and chronic colitis with diarrhea].

A total of 234 patients with acute intestinal infections (AII) and chronic colitis presenting with diarrhoea were examined. In an acute phase of AII induced by conditionally pathogenic flora, salmonellae and shigellae, as well as in exacerbation of chronic colitis, blood aggregability appears to be on the increase, with the ability of erythrocytes to deformation getting worse. In rectal mucosa hemodynamic disorders are common, manifested by decrease in pulse blood filling, rate of bloodflow predominantly in small and medium-size arteries as well as blood supply as a whole. Applying polysorb to rectal mucosa of such patients with the aid of an atomizer in speedier manner than it is usually done in conventional modes of treatment makes for regression of clinical symptoms of the illness, decreases the level of endotoxicosis, speeds up normalization of blood aggregability, red cell deformability, promoting quick restoration of rectal mucose bloodflow, the anal canal sphincter strength, with its rigidity returning to normal.

[Effect of enterosorption effects on hepatic enzyme spectrum in experimental toxic hepatitis].

Influence of a new sorbent based on the AU-L lignin on the hepatic enzyme spectrum has been investigated in rats with experimental toxic hepatitis. The intact animals were in control group. There was a shift in lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) isoenzymic spectrum to the LDH5 side, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PDH) activity increased to 144.7% against the control. Aspartate aminotransferase (AsT) activity reduced 2 times and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) activity enhanced 1.3 times, LDH2 activity increased 2.8 times in the liver of rats with toxic hepatitis which received sorbent for 7 days versus the untreated animals. The LDH4 and LDH5 fractions activity lowered to the level of the intact animals. G-6-PDH activity continued to increase, aminotransferase activity reduced up to the level less than control. The aerobic shifts in the LDH isoenzymic spectrum in which LDH4 and LDH5 fractions' activity completely returned to the control level evidence for glycolysis conversion to the aerobic type that apparently was promoted by positive effects of enterosorbent.

[The efficacy of enterosorption and a combination of antioxidants in schizophrenics].

A total of 143 patients with schizophrenia, who ranged from 28 to 42 years old, were studied. Of these, 68 patients were running a continuously progredient course, 75 were in the phase of exacerbation of the attack-like progredient course of schizophrenia. Group I (n = 76) of patients received the enterosorbent polysorb and a complex of antioxidants (tocoferolum acetatum, ascorbic acid, quercetin) as a supplement to the conventional therapy, group II (n = 67) was placed on the conventional therapy only. A complex of the antioxidants as well as the enterosorbent had a positive effect on the clinical course of the condition in 63.2% of group I patients who managed, among other therapeutic benefits, to achieve a stable remission. They have also demonstrated a concomitant improvement or normalization of indices for lipid peroxidation.
