There is no good reason why a gallbladder that has been compressed and displaced by a parasitic or malformative cyst, but is otherwise free of anatomical or irreversible lesions, should be irrevocably sacrificed. Treatment of the primary lesion can thus be followed by re-implantation of the gallbladder. The indications for this surgical technique and its limitations are described with reference to a personal series.

Complete traumatic amputation of the tongue is very exceptional, the intra-oral position generally protecting the tongue. Most reported cases of trauma have involved partial section with satisfactory results after simple suture. Complete amputation of a portion of the tongue occurred in a 12-year-old boy during a fight. The fragment of the tongue was brought to the emergency unit. It was placed in heparinated saline solution and replanted successfully three hours after the trauma. Plastic surgery of the oral cavity was also performed to repair laceration injuries. The postoperative period was uneventful and the tongue regained vitality and normal motion. There was just a slight retraction. Replantation of the tongue after complete section may not be successful but should be attempted when possible.
Laparoscopy is now a recognized and widely performed treatment modality for certain ureteric diseases (stones, ureteropelvic junction syndrome, etc.). Vesicopsoas hitch is a reference technique for the treatment of defects of the pelvic ureter larger than 5 cm. The authors report 2 cases of fibrous stenosis of the pelvic ureter effectively treated by laparoscopic vesicopsoas hitch after failure of endourological treatment. The details of the technique and its advantages are described and discussed. The authors believe that laparoscopic vesicopsoas hitch is feasible and reproducible. Larger series of patients treated by laparoscopy are required to allow comparison with conventional open surgery.
