[Management of developmental anomalies in the maxillary incisors: case report].

This report presented a case having a vital maxillary lateral incisor with a talon cusp, dens invaginatus and radicular palatal groove. A periodontal pocket of 6 mm. was found adjacent to the radicular palatal groove. The treatment for this case included the prophylactic grinding of the talon cusp, restoration of dens invaginatus, and filling the supragingival portion of the radicular palatal groove with light-cured composite resin to erradicate plaque retention. Only degranulation and root planing was performed in order to establish the healthy dentogingival unit without any treatment of the subgingival portion of the radicular palatal groove. The patient was motivated to maintain good oral hygiene for preventing or minimizing the recurrence of periodontal disease.

[Numerical anomalies of the dentition (main characteristics, therapy, prevention). Dental anomalies from the caseload of a district dentist, 9].

The principal characteristics of numerical anomalies of the teeth are described: the occurrence, the incidence, the nomenclature. With healing such anomalies the cooperation of the oral surgeon, the prosthetic and the orthodontist is important. Methods of orthodontical, oral, surgical, and prosthetical treatment are described. Possibility of prevention, its significance and the necessity of examining such anomalies are mentioned.

[Malocclusion in the primary dentition].

In this paper we analyze the type and frequency of malocclusions in a group of 100 health children with complete primary dentition. Bjork's method for epidemiological registration was taken as a basis. Of the examined children, 78% had some malocclusion type. The most frequent was the increased horizontal overbite. In vertical overbite relation we find anterior open bite, increased overbite, anterior open bite, increased overbite.

Removable partial overdentures for special patients.

Removable partial overdentures are an option that should be considered by every dentist who is involved with cosmetic dentistry or dentistry for the older adult. The rationale, indications, and technique have been described for providing an aesthetic, functional prosthesis that is also conservative in nature. The reversibility of the procedure allows the patient the opportunity to pursue other forms of treatment should the result not meet his or her expectations. For appropriately selected special patients, the results can be extremely gratifying for both the patient and dentist.

[Supernumerary teeth in the deciduous dentition].

The Authors presented sovrannumeraries (S) teeth in primary dentition, and the pedodontic, surgical and orthodontic problems. Semeiotics signs, and X Ray suggested, are described. All the types of S. teeth are showed: supplementaries, conoides, tuberculates and infundibuliformes. For every type characteristics, problems and surgical timing are described. Tuberculates and infundibuliformes teeth are the most dangerous for the permanent teeth interrupted: eruption delay, dilacerations, impactions, fusion, follicles, diseases, are reported. The direction of the growth of S. teeth must be analyzed. If the direction is external the timing of surgery is very important. Finally the Authors emphasized the role of cooperation of pedodontist, with oral surgeon and orthodontist for to obtain good results.

Accuracy of clinical diagnosis for the detection of dentoalveolar anomalies with panoramic radiography as validating criterion.

It is noteworthy that little attention has been paid to the balance between economy, discomfort, and risk to the patient (costs) and the clinical significance (benefit) of panoramic radiography as a routine screening procedure. This study used orthopantomographs to validate clinical detection of dentoalveolar anomalies in young children. It appears that 439 children (67 percent) were exposed without benefit from the radiography.

Dental findings of children with biliary atresia: report of seven cases.

Patients with congenital biliary atresia (CBA) showed green staining of the teeth and soft tissues. Current cases of biliary atresia show various degrees of green staining in the primary and/or permanent dentition, suggesting a correlation between the degree of staining and the severity of the disease. Rampant caries was found in five out of seven patients. The importance of meticulous oral hygiene should be emphasized.

[Gardner syndrome].

Three patients, sisters of B, 12 and 14 years of age with a diagnosis of Gardner's Syndrome are reported. The family history indicated that their mother died of a carcinoma of the intestine at the age of 30. This Syndrome, which is of dominant autosomic inheritance, can be seen in aur city, with so heterogeneous hereditary features. Dentists must know the oral cavity characteristics of this disease (odontomas, cementomas, cysts, supernumerary teeth) that accompany gastric, intestinal, skeletal and tissular disturbances an of other organs (polyps, osteomas, cysts, adenomas), being intestinal poliposis of the colon the most important feature that becomes an "Adenocarcinoma", in the third ald fourth decade in a 100% of the cases. Its incidence in our city is real. The proper diagnosis is made when the clinical study is completed and the dentist may be the first one to watch this syndrome's feature in the oral cavity. A proper medical diagnosis would allow a preventive procedure and a patient's control until the "total surgery of the colon", which is the appropriate therapeutic procedure, is achieved; although there are controversies as regards the time to be carried out.

[Dental autograft: a supplementary dimension in dental practice].

This article deals with the possibilities and limitations of autogenous transplantations. In properly selected cases (trauma, missing teeth,...), this procedure might be a valuable alternative treatment. The indications for transplantation, the surgical technique, the recipient site and the choice of the transplant are discussed. The most important parameters which influence the success of a transplantation are: the stage of root formation, the atraumatic removal and insertion of the germ, the final position of the transplant and the post-operative fixation. Clinical examples will illustrate some indications.
