[Scientific and practical aspects of information maintenance of the management process in a medical establishment].

An account of the experience gained over a period of years is given together with scientific-and-practical aspects of information insurance of the process of management in a medical institution, use of computer engineering. It is shown that even under challenging social-and-economic conditions one can solve problems of information insurance at the contemporary level. Advantages of work of the personnel under new conditions are outlined.

Wireless computing and health care.

Wireless computing technology has progressed sufficiently that it is now being incorporated into health care communications. These advances are linked to major improvements in general computer capabilities, the introduction of global satellite systems, and changes in government regulation of airwave access. This article describes some of these advances and their application in health care settings.

Deploying the EMR, Part 1: The basic needs.

This case study presents a collection of principles and guidelines regarding the process of selecting and deploying an electronic medical record (EMR) in a physician's practice. Practical advice and observations are detailed about what was learned and how the practice has benefited. In Part 1 of this article, the authors identify the functions that are crucial in an ideal EMR. In Part 2, they will provide their guidelines for implementing these functions.

EMR pitfalls: avoiding costly purchasing mistakes.

With the increased capability and lower costs of computer technology, physicians and medical institutions are adopting electronic medical records as a means of improving practice efficiency and achieving both better patient care and monetary savings. We are very much in favor of transforming office activities onto electronic formats. However, there are some caveats that merit attention. This article discusses some of the pitfalls and pratfalls incorporating electronic records in into everyday practice.
