Even with radical restriction of range, reliability coefficients from 10 studies gave an average interstudy value of .74, suggesting constancy of reliability over diverse experiments. A value from a new test can help index reliability of tests not previously studied.
From the clinical point of view the factors influencing sieving of RC are numerous and act together in whole blood. Furthermore their in vivo effect is difficult to appreciate for a given vessel. The technological factors can be overcome but only for a given in vitro shear stress. The extrinsic factors are plasmatic or sub-membranial. Some of them are pathological, but others are merely variations of normal parameters. Some 'statistical' factors have been found but without any idea of their relationship to the RC. The intrinsic factors, which are essentially metabolic can be studied after careful washing of the RC. Thus it appears that the management of blood, including washing is of great importance. Finally the biochemical research of the intrinsic, and those we refer to as sub-membranial factors, especially in diabetes and thrombosis, are the more important route of research in this field of filtration of RC.
The extent of the GP's contact with families with children, and the influence of family characteristics upon the utilization of health care have been registered. Seventy-one families in a rural district in Norway were followed for two and a half years. On average, the GP had approximately one contact per month with one member of each family. Demographic family data, such as age or number of children, were not found to be of great significance for the number of contacts. Children's encounters with the GPs correlated with those of the mothers, but not with those of the fathers. The most important factors influencing the families' use of health services were the prevalence of chronic illness, psychological stability in parents, and the occurrence of changes in family composition. The gains from approaching the family as a unit are discussed.

This document corrects three notices in the Federal Register this year. These notices set forth schedules of limits on costs for home health agencies, hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities. In deriving these limits, we used a wage index to reflect differences in costs that are correlated with are wage differences. Tables of wage index values for urban and rural areas were published in each notice. Due to a reporting error, we used incomplete data to calculate the wage index values for three New England areas. We have since obtained corrected data, and have used this to recalculate the wage index values for these areas. This document sets forth the corrected wage index values.
