Never without its critics, the Rorschach Test continues to be widely used in clinical settings. The test continues to be criticized vigorously. Rorschach critics appear to fall into two broad groups: those leveling valid methodological concerns about the test s behavioral science foundations and method critics who appear to deny the validity of the test on strictly a priori or theoretical considerations. Many critics do not appear to be acquainted with the extensive Rorschach research literature. The current paper provides an overview of several domains of applied and laboratory Rorschach behavioral science, including statistical power analysis, interobserver agreement and interrater reliability, Rorschach assessment of thought disorder, and emerging research linking Rorschach variables with diagnostic criteria from the DSM-IV, as a means of educating both adherents and detractors alike concerning the test s scientific track record and applicability to clinical assessment.
The objective of this research was to try to see if it was possible to find in a population of chronic rheumatickies (a great majority of P.C.E.) some specific psychologie characteristics or constants among these sicks. So we have used Rorschach test. On the based of 19 persons inspected, we have found 84% who present a pathological inhibition and 68% a pathological anxiety. They are datums more strikingness, but we have found others interesting indications. For example: 47% persons presented symptoms of a affectivity no stabilize egocentric and impulsive and had a perturbed thought by their affectives problems. 21% a deficient valuation of reality. We have terminated trying to discuss two others questions from datums collected.
The appearance of depressive features, as reflected by responses to the Rorschach test, were explored in two groups of children from divorced and nondivorced families (referred to here as divorce and nondivorce children). The relationships between the depression scores and the children's hostility, aggression, and anxiety levels were also studied. The Rorschach Inkblot Test was individually administered to a nonclinical sample of 108 Swedish school children between 10 and 12 years old. The subjects constituted two groups, a divorce group (27 girls, 27 boys) and a nondivorce group (27 girls, 27 boys). Divorce children scored significantly higher on Exner's (1986) Depression Index than their nondivorce peers. Furthermore, divorce children with depressive features in their Rorschach responses were found to have a high level of hostility and aggression (as manifested in their Rorschach protocols), whereas no such associations were found among nondivorce children.

The authors present a study on 20 patients of uncertain diagnostic placement admitted to a neurological department. The patients are characterized by an atypical clinical neurological symptomatology and the absence of organic pathology. Through psychiatric examination and the Rorschach tests, which show some characteristics and constant aspects, the authors arrive at the diagnosis of depressive equivalents. It is emphasized that the Rorschach test offers a useful contribution to the often difficult diagnosis of these clinical pictures.
Research has shown the importance of sex differences for various aspects of schizophrenia. This study focused on sex-related differences in thought processing as shown in the Rorschach test. Thirty-six schizophrenic patients (18 men and 18 women) were tested with the Rorschach in accordance with the Comprehensive System. The results showed that the female patients were more active in handling information input but showed more impairment in conceptualization. The male patients showed more perceptual disturbance. It was concluded that the Rorschach might add information in differentiating among subtle thought disturbances. It might even be useful to detect relationships between thought processes and neuroleptic medication.
Despite of their importance, "mask" answers to the Rorschach test, suspected but not studied by H. Rorshach, retained the attention of R. Kuhn (1944) in his classical book. The present study concerns 43 adults of both sexes, from a total of 605 adults (6.9%) examined for various nevrotic disturbances, who gave, at least, one single "mask" response to this test. Following a detailed analysis of the characteristics of their rorschachogrammes, the author underlines that these relatively rare responses exhibit: a) difficulties or conflicts in relation with problems of "being seen", "being judged", "unmasked" by others, or b) in relation with difficulties arising from inferiority feelings and complexes, ambiguities or dissimulations.
The authors have repeated, on the average 29.7 years later, Rorschach test in 11 schizophrenic men and 19 schizophrenic women. This work was carried out in the course of a follow-up study of schizophrenics more than 65 years of age. Analysis of the records showed that the only differences between the first and second examinations were increases in animal and popular responses in old age. The authors have tried to relate these findings to the general trends of schizophrenic development in senescence.
