[The use of enterosorption in patients in the acute period of a myocardial infarct].

The authors studied the clinical course of myocardial infarction during the acute period, the central and peripheral hemodynamics, immunological reactivity, dynamic electrocardiography by the Holter method in 107 patients with macrofocal and transmural myocardial infarction. It is concluded that it is rational include into the complex treatment of this condition the silicic enterosorbent "Polysorba". The authors recommend to begin polysorba treatment from the first day of onset of the disease especially in the presence of clinical signs of acute circulatory insufficiency. It is suggested to increase the bioavailability and bioassimilability of medicinal agents using the enterosorbent.

Combined Modality Therapy↗

[Enterosorption in the treatment of ulcerative colitis patients].

Enterodes and splenin were used in the treatment of patients with ulcerative colitis (idiopathic proctocolitis) in association with routine drug treatment while steroids were not employed. Results indicate increase of the therapeutic effect due to improvement of regeneration of the intestine and improvement of the immunity status.

[Enterosorption with pectin-containing medication in the treatment of peritonitis].

UNLABELLED: One hundred and fifty patients aged 19 to 86 years with general peritonitis mainly in a toxic (85.3%) stage were examined. The leading causes of peritonitis were acute appendicitis (24.0%) and perforation of gastroduodenal ulcers (21.3%). Three groups of patients were formed with a pair samples method for a comparative analysis of treatment RESULTS: The control group of patients was treated conventionally. Entero-sorption was performed through naso-intestinal tube with well-known carbonic sorbent UAO-A and pectin-containing medication made of red beet. The results were compared. A 1.3-fold decrease in entero-paresis naso-intestinal intubation duration, a relief in severity of the patients' condition by SAPS scale as early as on day 2, improvement of immunity indices, faster reduction of toxicity of blood plasma and leukocytic index of intoxication, a 12% decrease in postoperative pneumonia morbidity and postoperative lethality from 14 to 6.6% demonstrated advantages of entero-sorption with pectin-containing medication.

Acute Disease↗

[Enterosorption in experimental acute kidney failure].

The paper provides the results of 32 experiments on 22 mongrel male dogs with a view to measuring creatinine levels in the lumen of various intestinal segments before and after bilateral nephrectomy and evaluating the effects the enterosorbent brand SKN administered into isolated portions of the intestinal tube on alteration of intraluminal concentrations of creatinine, serum creatinine, and "middle-sized" molecules. Four parts of the intestine were identified: (1) proximal; (2) middle and (3) distal portions of the small intestine, and (4) the large intestine up to the anal sphincter. Two days following bilateral nephrectomy, creatinine levels were increased in the proximal, middle, distal portions of the small bowel and in the large bowel by 18, 11, 5, and 1.4 times, respectively, as compared to the baseline creatinine concentration in the intestinal parts mentioned. The administration of the enterosorbent into the different intestinal parts revealed that with its 6-hour exposure, the most potent effect (lower concentrations of creatinine and "middle-sized" molecules in serum) was observed in the proximal portions of the small bowel. This phenomenon is likely to be attributable to greater vascularization and the maximal creatinine and "middle-sized" molecule concentration in these intestinal portions. With this, it was shown that the higher baseline concentrations of serum creatinine and "middle-sized" molecules were, the more actively they absorbed on the charcoal enterosorbent brand SKN in the intestine.

Acute Kidney Injury↗

[Enterosorption in the treatment of patients with chronic urticaria].

A synthetic carbon sorbent (SKNP-2) was included in the treatment of 197 patients with relapsing urticaria. Courses lasted 7, 14, 20 days. The clinical effect was favourable and its efficacy increased with prolongation of the therapy course time using the enterosorbent. Immunological parameters did not change in the course of treatment.

[The effect of enterosorption on lipid peroxidation and antioxidant activity of liver and blood lipids during combined thermal injury].

Enterosorbents IHANT, VUGS and PMS decreased considerably the lipid peroxidation products content in liver tissue within 3 days after combined thermic trauma. The effect observed appears to occur due to adsorption of endotoxins including lipid toxins in gastrointestinal tract. Content of lipid peroxidation products in liver tissue under pathologic conditions may serve as a criterion in evaluation of enterosorbents efficiency in gastrointestinal detoxication.

[Enterosorption in the combined treatment of patients with viral hepatitis].

The authors studied the efficacy of using USSR-made adsorbent "Enterosgel" in the complex treatment of viral hepatitis. A scheme of employment of the drug is described. Recommendations on the doses and duration of treatment are given. It was established that the efficacy of "Enterosgel" treatment was optimal in patients with intoxication syndrome due to hepatic insufficiency, cholestasis with marked skin pruritus and allergic manifestations. Use of the named drug permits to restrict the employment of other agents that effected favourably the course and outcome of viral hepatitis.

[The specific antigens in the biological substrates of patients with salmonellosis in connection with enterosorption therapy].

There have been under observation 172 patients with gastrointestinal salmonellosis who besides conventional treatment were given 45 g of enterosgel or activated carbon daily in a single dose and divided into three taking in 15 g each. It was shown that enterosorbents did not delay formation of immune complexes in serum, neither interfered they with fixation of specific antigens by immune complexes at blood cells of patients with salmonellosis. Co-administration of enterosorbents promotes elimination of Salmonella's antigens which can be detected in coprofiltrate. Activated carbon in a single dose had the most pronounced eliminative effect.

[Effects of enterosorption on the activity of natural-resistance humoral factors in patients with burns].

The data suggesting the enterosorbent influence on the activity of proteolysis inhibitors and arginase, on the fibrin-fibrinogen and fibronectin decay products content, blood serum toxin fixating activity of injured with the burns were presented. The dependence of expression of mentioned indexes changes from the trauma severity in acute burn disease period was shown. The enterosgel application promotes the lowering of dystrophic degree severity, alike the hepar and fixed macrophage system load, the investigated indexes normalization acceleration, and patients condition improvement.
