[Effect of antibiotics on Francisella tularensis].

The minimum inhibitory concentrations of rifampicin, doxycycline, sisomicin, ciprofloxacin and phosmidomycin for various strains of Francisella tularensis were 0.5 to 2.0, 0.5 to 2.0, 0.125 to 0.4, 0.625 to 0.125 and 2.0 to 12.5 micrograms/ml, respectively. Ciprofloxacin and sisomicin had a marked bactericidal effect. The bactericidal effect of rifampicin was insignificant. Doxycycline and phomidomycin had practically no such effect. All the antibiotics had a post effect. The level of the post-antibiotic effect was different and depended on the antibiotic concentration.

[Qualitative and quantitative characteristics of atmospheric air pollution in an industrial city].

The data obtained as result of studies of qualitative and quantitative characteristics of urban ambient air give the ground to make a conclusion that air pollution in the areas of industrial enterprises is of a local character. A great part of urban territory is polluted with the major harmful impurities (carbon oxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, dust). The studies carried out open up perspective to investigate the influence of harmful impurities on the population health and to develop activities aimed at the reduction of the level of chemicals' concentration in the air.

[Wood dust concentrations in wood processing industries].

68 mean values of airborne shift concentration of total dust were measured at 9 factories of woodworking industries. The values varied from 0.18 to 59.3 mg/m3 for area sampling. But at 63% of the woodworking machines with exhaustion the area sampling shift concentration of total dust reached fewer values than 5 mg/m3. This is a significant decrease of dust concentration in the last ten years.
