"This paper examines the four major sources of population data in the countries of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) viz., general population censuses, registration statistics, household surveys and permanent registration of population. The paper starts with an analysis of the status quo of these sources in each country of the GCC, then proceeds to examine their standards of accuracy and finally identifies the problems faced by the data collection process in each source separately and states some practical solutions to them." The countries concerned are Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
OBJECTIVES: Perinatal mortality rate is important expression of public health care. Estimation of the real effects of medical procedures needs a proficient information flow. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Authors compared data from Polish Official Statistics with data transferred from obstetric departments of regional hospitals in Lublin province. RESULTS: There were significant divergences concerning neonatal mortality. Hospitals reported 33 deaths less than statistical office. In order to explain the divergence found the new forms for reporting were prepared. CONCLUSION: Secondary analysis of the results exerted, that data obtained from Polish Official Statistics were correct.

Plasma cells are currently held to represent the end-stage differentiation of B-lymphocytes and hence do not undergo division. However, binucleated and occasionally multi-nucleated forms of plasma cells have often been recorded in histological materials containing plasma cell infiltrates. It was decided that a study be conducted to provide more information on the microscopic features of these binucleated cells. Of the fifty surgical specimens from different oral lesions examined by light microscopy, binucleated plasma cells were found in thirty-three specimens. The mean maximum diameter, surface area and volume were 26.87 microns, 534.61 microns 2 and 9466.28 microns 3 respectively. Morphologically, they resembled the mononucleated or single nucleated plasma cells. Their cytoplasm contain abundant basophilic cytoplasm and a prominent perinuclear golgi image. The two nuclei exhibit a clock-face or cartwheel appearance.

An attempt was made to describe the disease patterns among blacks on the basis of registered deaths, which have been collected for the whole of the RSA since 1978. The pattern of cause-specific proportional mortality resembled that of an underdeveloped population. It was noticed that the data were not suitable for detailed descriptions because there was evidence of under-registration and misclassification, in particular in the national states. A large proportion (20% on average) of the deaths are classified as caused by symptoms, signs and ill-defined conditions. It is recommended that the process of registration be reviewed in order to improve the quality of the data so necessary for epidemiological and health care research.
