[Impotence caused by non-organic causes. Psychological diagnosis and psychotherapeutic treatment methods].

Male sexual incompetence as well as every other human sexual behavior is a product of learning experiences. Psychological diagnosis has to discover the conditioning mechanisms which affect normal sexual behavior and produce emotional inhibitions. Those are not only represented by real events but can also exist only in the imagination of the patient as an "internal dialogue". Psychological therapy of male sexual incompetence contains elements of various therapeutic approaches as client-centered and communicational therapy, behavior modification techniques as systematic desensitization and assertive training. Sometimes a therapeutic program using the techniques of Masters and Johnson is useful. A brief case study is given to demonstrate the integrative approach to male sexual dysfunctions.

[Rare causes of ossification of the posterior common vertebral ligament causing cervical compression. Apropos of 2 cases].

The ossification of the posterior longitudinal is always responsible of cervical myelopathy. Radiological study and the CT scan, are able to precise the level, the morphologic and associated abnormalities of this lesion. Two cases of ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligamentum with cervical myelopathy are reported. The radiologic studies determined the etiology, in the first case, it was fluorosis and the second DISH disease.

[Hepatic granulomatosis caused by Q fever: a cause of erroneous tuberculosis diagnosis].

We present the case of a 31-year-old man hospitalized for the study of a fever syndrome. The patient developed acute respiratory failure, with anemia and hepatic affection. In the histological examination of the liver and bone marrow, the presence of granulomas suggesting a tuberculous etiology was demonstrated. Antibodies IgG anti-Coxiella burnetti were detected, using indirect immunofluorescence, at the level of 1/200, with latter seroconversion to 1/800. Therapy with doxycycline was administered (200 mg/day during 14 days). Fever subsided in 24 hours and the other clinico-biochemical disorders disappeared in the following days. After the literature review, we conclude that Q fever must be taken into account for the differential diagnosis of any granulomatous disease observed in the liver and/or bone marrow. We can confirm that any granuloma is specific of just one pathological entity. The diagnosis must be always supported by other clinical, supplementary and serological data.

Primary aldosteronism caused by an adrenal tumor: a correctable cause of hypertension.

Primary aldosteronism due to an adrenal tumor is rare. When found, it can be treated surgically and cured. This is a case report of a 41-year-old man with a long history of severe hypertension who complained of weakness and weight loss. Laboratory studies revealed hypokalemia and marked elevation of the serum aldosterone level. A computed tomography scan revealed a left adrenal mass that increased in size over 3 months' time. A left adrenalectomy was done, and the patient has had a dramatic decrease in his blood pressure and has returned to work.
