Pathomorphological changes of the cardiac muscle of experimental rabbits and rats intoxicated with Intration were traced. Diffuse ischaemic lesions such as the presence of large quantities of mitochondria, contraction nodes and droplet necrosis were observed. These lesions result: from the toxic effect of pesticides on myocytes and inhibition of cholinesterases as well as from nonphysiologically great activity of lysosome enzymex which are also responsible for necrotic lesions in the cardiac muscle. Excessively high PAM doses administered to animals intoxicated with pesticide result in lesions in the cardiac muscle of rabbits and rats which are greater than after administering an insectide alone. Toxobidin, a multi-function compound, doses not possess such negative properties as PAM.

The frequency of hospitalization of children and adolescents for traumas and intoxications in Poland in the years 1980-1985 was analysed on the basis of data obtained from the All-Polish Study of General Morbidity. Trauma and intoxications were the causes of about 16% of all hospitalizations in the age group 0-19 years. In the age group 15-19 years they were the most frequent causes of hospital stay. In all age groups the indices of hospitalization of children and adolescents in Poland were lower than in other countries. The most frequent causes of hospitalization for trauma and intoxication were in boys superficial lesions and contusions, and in girls--intoxications. In both sex groups fractures of extremities, cranial trauma and burns were frequent causes of hospitalization. Boys were hospitalized more frequently than girls, and this difference increased with age. No significant differences were found between children and adolescents from urban and rural areas in the total hospitalization rates, but some differences were noted between these areas in groups with various diagnoses.
The differences between various provinces in the frequency of hospitalizations of children and adolescents in Poland in the years are presented. The data were obtained from the All-Polish study of General Hospital Morbidity. The provinces with the highest hospitalization rates included those of Wałbrzych, Jelenia Góra, Suwałki, and the lowest rates were in the Province of Gdańsk and Province of Rzeszów. A relationship was noted between the number of hospitalized patients and the duration of hospital stay--with longer hospitalization in the areas with low number of such cases.
