[The combination of reflexotherapy and homeopathy in treating patients with facial nerve neuropathy].

Used in a multiple-modality treatment of 103 patients presenting with facial nerve neuropathy were infrared laser puncture and homeopathy. The former treatments were administered with the aid of the apparatus [symbol: see text] 001 at wave-length 890 nm, average power 15 mW/cm2. Homeopathy therapy was with those drug preparations meant to deal with constitutional and symptomatic problems. As many as 103 patients with facial nerve neuropathy derived apparent benefit from treatment, which fact was confirmed by electrophysiological findings as was by those from acupuncture diagnosis techniques.

[Acupuncture reflexotherapy in the treatment of hypertension patients].

Acupuncture was used in a combination treatment of 110 patients with stage I to III hypertensive disease (HD). As far as acupuncture points are concerned we followed the lines laid down in the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), with results of Ryodoraku investigation and those of auriculodiagnosis supplying a guide to the choice of points taking into account the type of hemodynamics. In our experience, redundancy with the meridian of the liver, unlike TCM notions about dominance under HD syndrome of fire and wind in the liver, was found to be the case in 40 percent of the patients while redundancy with meridians of the heart and pericardium was recordable in 97 and 84 percent of the cases respectively. The use of acupuncture points in the neck collar region and head and of antique points along the meridians of the heart and liver were shown to be effective treatment having a beneficial effect on cerebral circulation. Results of the clinical study suggest efficiency, expediency, and pathogenic value of acupuncture in the treatment of HD patients.

[The effectiveness of foot reflexotherapy on chronic pain associated with a herniated disk].

Foot reflexology is both a diagnostic technique and therapy. It is an alternative therapy which is considered useful in pain management. Its effectiveness as a therapy has been studied at the Mestre hospital where a clinical study has been undertaken to determine the effectiveness of reflexology in the reduction of pain. A group of 40 persons suffering almost exclusively from a lumbar-sacral disc hernia received three treatments of reflexology massage for a week. The results found that 25 persons (62.5%) reported a reduction in pain, (rating at 0.75 on a scale of 0-4). These results however did not take into consideration the relationship between the effectiveness of foot reflexology and variables such as the persons physicality (Body Mass Index), or their psychological or social status.

[Effect reflexotherapy on cervical-thoracic and lumbar pain syndromes in spinal osteochondrosis].

Acupuncture used in cervical-thoracic and lumbar pain arrested the pain completely in 41.7 and partially in 53% patients with spinal osteochondrosis of the neck and chest spine. In lumbosacral osteochondrosis pain eliminated in 33 and 61.2% patients, respectively. If acupuncture is ineffective, vacuum blood letting is recommended as an adjuvant treatment to relieve pain.

[Reflexotherapy and carbon dioxide baths in the complex treatment of patients with circulatory encephalopathy of arteriosclerotic etiology].

Overall 106 patients with atherosclerotic cccccccirculatory encephalopathy (DE) were examined for changes in the EEG, REG and in certain psychological parameters (attention, memory, "associative" thinking) before and after acupuncture and carbon dioxide baths. In patients with stage I and stage II DE (in 93 and 80%, respectively), the clinical improvement was accompanied by positive changes such as a rise of alpha-activity, decrease of pathological waves and frequencies on the EEG, decline of the vascular tone and improvement of the blood content on the REG in addition to the shortening of the time required for the search for numbers according to Schulte's tables, a decrease of errors made during calculation, an increase of words and the family of words in the memorization and "associative" thinking tests. The data obtained may attest to the amelioration of cerebral function and hemodynamics because of the rehabilitation treatment.

[Autonomic disorders in the clinical picture of gastric and duodenal peptic ulcer and their acupuncture reflexotherapy].

Patients with peptic ulcer demonstrate diverse psychovegetative disorders that complicate the course of the somatic disease. Depending on the intensity of psychovegetative disorders the following syndromes were distinguished: astheno-neurotic, astheno-hypochondriac, astheno-depressive and psycho-vegetative with organic microsymptomatology. The use of laser puncture in multimodality therapy of peptic ulcer patients favours correction of vegetative disorders and normalization of regenerative processes occurring in the gastroduodenal system.
