[Early manifestation and dynamics of the development of vertebrobasilar circulation disorder associated with cervicovertebral dysfunction, directions of the prophylaxis and treatment].

206 children and young patients have been observed to diagnose the origin and dynamics of the development of vertebrobasilar circulation disturbances. The great importance was given to detail data collection by questionnairing and studying outpatient medical records of the patients since early childhood. The obtained data were compared with those of healthy people of similar age. Risk factors and the development of symptoms of the disease with age were analyzed in the article. Genetical and constitutional factors are of great importance in the development of vascular and musculoskeletal systems pathologies. The intensity of the pathologic process and dynamics of its development connected directly with the number and pathologic factors duration. Early manifestation of vertebrobasilar disturbances is considered in practice as vegetovascular dystonia. Taking into account a reflex factor in the development of the pathology, reflex therapeutic methods will be pathogenetically justified.

[A combined reflex method in the treatment of suppurative-infectious diseases in the postpartum period].

The purpose of this study was to develop an effective pathogenetically validated method for the treatment of puerperants with pyoseptic diseases, making use of reflex therapy, and clinical assessment of this method. The study has involved 190 puerperants, in 50 of them the postpartum period ran a normal course and the rest 140 developed pyoseptic complications. Case histories were analyzed, clinical and laboratory tests (blood proteins, Mancini's test for immunoglobulins, Dorofeichuk's blood plasma lysozyme test) were carried out. Vegetative regulation was studied with the use of a vegetative test kit. A method for reflex therapy of the detected disorders of the vegetative regulation associated with puerperal pyoseptic diseases has been developed, resulting in strengthening of the defense potential of the body. Clinical assessment of the method has confirmed its high efficacy.

[Reflex therapy, massage, and manual therapy in the treatment of progressive myopia in children and adolescents].

The paper describes the methods and results of multimodality treatment for progressive myopia in children and adolescents, by applying acupuncture, massage, and manual therapy. Thirty-three patients aged 7 to 17 years who had progressive myopia of 0.5 to 10.8 diopters were treated by an original procedure as repeated courses. Their follow-up lasted 2 years. A beneficial therapeutic effect as increases in uncorrected and subcorrected visual acuity, ocular accommodation reserves, and myopia regression rates was observed in 64% of the patients. Two-year myopia stabilization was achieved in 45% of cases. There were neither complications nor side effects. The possible mechanism of the remedial effect of the procedure is discussed in the paper.

[Reflex analgesia in the combined treatment of pregnant women with a pathological preliminary period].

The impact of reflex analgesia via transcutaneous electrical neurostimulation and electrical acupuncture was studied in 46 patients with an abnormal preliminary period by using tests of pain sensations and personal and reactive anxiety, ECG, hysterography, and computer-aided prediction of labor complications. Reflex analgesia was found to contribute to effective abolishment of preliminary pain sensations, to normalization of central nervous system function, autonomic reactions, uterine contractility, to reduction in pharmacological agent use and treatment duration, and to better delivery.

[Psychological profile of personality of patients with bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive bronchitis].

Psychological personality profiles were evaluated in 87 patients with bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive bronchitis treated by means of acupuncture. The data point to the improvement of psychological state and reduction of pathological types in patients that run parallel with their clinical improvement. The transition from one pathological state to another having a more benign course was also observed.

[Characteristics of the electric activity of the projection areas of the large hemispheres in children with enuresis].

As many as 62 children aged 9 to 14 years with enuresis underwent electroencephalographic examinations. Assay of alpha-activity and study of its correlation dependence made it possible to reveal a decrease in excitability of the projection zones of the cortex of the large hemispheres and weakening of functional conjugation between them. After performing a complex of treatment measures including actions on the acupuncture points, intake of nootropic agents, vitamins a tendency was noted towards normalization of the status of the sensory and integrative brain structures. The EEG manifestations of enuresis may be determined by functional changes in the level of excitability of the cortex of the large hemispheres and derangements of intercentral relations.

[General principles of neural therapy. Review].

As an introduction the five applications of the neural-therapy, which are treatment of locus dolendi, segment, neural structures, vascular system and irritation-centre (disturbing field) as well as some indications and forms of treatment are described by presenting mechanisms, partly well known, partly to be completed by further research. The central function of the vegetative nervous system is pointed out.

[Interferon and other immunological indices of influenza patients undergoing different methods of treatment].

The authors review the results of immunological examinations of patients with influenza given adapromine and virazole drugs as well as reflex therapy aimed at increasing general host resistance. Patients with influenza administered reflex therapy among other therapeutic measures developed more intensive increase of serum interferon activity in the acute period of the disease, with its more rapid decline; they had a high level of IgM and more intensive rise of specific antibody (in the HI test) as compared with the control group. In the group of patients treated with adapromine and virazole there was also a more significant increase of IgM level, early and significantly high level of IgG as compared with the patients given symptomatic drugs. No differences in the number of T-lymphocytes were found by the method of spontaneous rosette formation with sheep erythrocytes. Both in treatment with antiviral drugs and using reflex therapy, a more rapid disappearance of influenza antigen from nasal smears was observed than in patients of the control groups.
