[The effects of intracerebral injections of kynurenine on conditioned reflex activity and on the serotonin level of the blood in dogs].

Higher nervous activity of dogs was studied by classical Pavlovian method of alimentary salivary conditioned reflexes and serotonin content in blood was measured. Kynurenine sulfate in a dose of 300 + 300 mkg (bilaterally) was injected in the dorsal hippocampus region through chemiotrodes. In most cases the injection of the substance led to changes towards excitation (increase of conditioned and unconditioned alimentary salivation in the day of injection and the next day) and also to a rise of serotonin content in animals blood.

[Influence of acoustic signal with ultrasonic components on the development of defensive conditioned reflex in Wistar rats].

Short-term (90 s) effects of the complex acoustic signal (CAS) with ultrasonic components on the development of defensive conditioned reflex of two-way active avoidance in a shuttle-box were studied in female Wistar rats. The learning ability of rats was measured on a scale designed in our laboratory. It was shown that CAS stimulation triggered an audiogenic seizure of different strength in 59% of animals. The CAS was extremely stressful for Wistar rats: it prevented the active avoidance learning in early terms after its application (the first training session in 4 or 6 days). This effect did not depend on the presence or intensity of audiogenic seizures during CAS. In the second training session in 9 days (the first session was in 4 days), learning was impaired as compared to control without CAS. However, during repeated training procedure 1.5 months after the CAS (the first session in 6 days), rats rapidly reached the criterion of learning (10 consecutive avoidance reactions). On the other hand, if the CAS was presented with different time lags (immediately, in 3 or in 45 days) after the first training session, the ability of animals to learn during the second session was not impaired both in early and late terms after exposure to the stressor. The results suggest that exposure to CAS prevents development of short-term memory but does not affect consolidation process and long-term memory.

[Formation of conditioned reflexes to number of sequential stimuli in the dog].

The present experimental study deals with question, whether dogs are able to orient their behaviour to stimuli which differ only by the number of identical clicks presented in successive series with variable interstimulus interval. Some dogs elaborated alimentary or defensive motor conditioned reflexes nd differentiations to them being in classical conditions in experimental chamber. In other dogs running to the feeding trough was elaborated and a differentiation to it in response to series of clicks differing only by one signal. It was established that the parameters of conditioned positive and negative reactions (latency, rate and realization frequency) statistically depended on the number of clicks in the series and did not depend upon its temporal characteristics (interstimulus intervals and duration). The conclusion is made that in CNS of dogs, elementary form of counting a signals takes place, and that the integrated result of this count might serve as a key to evoke positive or negative conditioned reaction.

[Incorporation of radiolabel in vitro into proteins of rat hippocampus synaptosomes when elaborating defensive conditioned reflexes].

The influence of learning local protein synthesis was studied in the rat hippocampal synaptosomes. It is found that elaboration of two-way avoidance conditioned reflex causes a decrease in ability of hippocampal synaptosomes to include H3-leucin into proteins in experiments in vitro. It is suggested that cyclic adenosin 3'5'-monophosphate plays a definite role in controlling protein synthesis in the nerve endings during different influences including learning because its addition to the incubation medium activates sharply this process.
