[Fever caused by metapramine. Diagnosis of fever caused by psychotropic drugs].

Because of two hyperthermias, due to metapramine a french antidepressives of the tricyclic family, international literature concerning drug fever induced by psychotropics was reviewed. This study stresses the fact that apart from neuroleptics which are frequently involved in that type of accident, other psychotropics are very rarely responsible of hyperthermia. One hundred and five cases published since 1970 and sufficiently well documented to be analysed according to Dangoumeau's french method of imputation of side effects of drugs, were reviewed. Among these cases, one hundred (95%) corresponded to malignant syndrome of neuroleptics, 89 concerned neuroleptics alone, and 11, neuroleptics associated with other psychotropics. Regarding the different mechanisms which can explain drug fever as described by Lipsky, it seems that concerning psychotropics two types may be retained: Fever due to central dysregulation directly induced by drugs, and mainly, immunoallergic fever, the most frequently seen as described in our two cases.

[A rare cause of urologic emergency in childhood: obstruction of the urinary tract caused by Candida].

AA. report a case history about a 3 month old female baby affected by bilateral pyelo-ureteric obstruction by fungus ball, presented as urine ascites because of fissure in renal pelvis and successfully treated by surgery. In spite of disobstruction and subsequent medical treatment, the obstruction relapsed and a second operation was necessary. This time a bilateral nephrostomy was done allowing irrigation with anti-candida drugs. This case has to be considered unusual because of the age of the patient, the clinical presentation as ascites, the bilateral affection, the tendency to relapse after disobstruction, and the successful treatment after the second operation.

[Hypotheses and causes of body height progressions since mid 19th century--a scientific historical review. I: Discussion of causes since the end of the 19th century to mid 20th century, including references on body height development in the 19th century].

This examination is trying to give a scientific historical survey of the hypothesis and the reasons for progression of height since the middle of the 19th century. These progressions of height are not based on a single reason, but were kept going by the addition of consecutive reasons. Physical relief is mainly responsible for the most recent phase of progression of height.
