"The Indian population of Canada has grown from 277,000 in 1973 to about 335,000 in 1982.... During the next 20 years the Indian population will grow at a greater rate than the Canadian population, and at the turn of the century it may well reach 450,000 persons. On the one hand, [the authors] present the demographic situation of Canada's Registered Indians, from 1967 to 1981 [and] examine the components of growth of this sub-population. On the other hand, [they] analyse the foreseen evolution of the Registered Indian population, till the year 2000, its size, demographic structure, as well as its distribution by type of habitat." The focus is on the province of Quebec. (summary in ENG, SPA)

"A modification of the population potential model is used to analyze the structure of the potential of population for cities of the Moscow region, to develop a relationship between population potential and city size, and to use this procedure to forecast future population change in Moscow Oblast cities." Cities in the region with a population of 50,000 or more at the censuses of 1959, 1970, and 1979 are included.

"This paper discusses the estimation and projection of small area populations in London, [England] and considers trends in intercensal social and demographic indices which can be calculated using these estimates. Information available annually on vital statistics and electorates is combined with detailed data from the Census Small Area Statistics to derive demographic component based population estimates for London's electoral wards over five year periods. The availability of age disaggregated population estimates permits derivation of small area social indicators for intercensal years, for example, of unemployment and mortality. Trends in spatial inequality of such indicators during the 1980s are analysed and point to continuing wide differentials. A typology of population and social indicators gives an indication of the small area distribution of the recent population turnaround in inner London, and of its association with other social processes such as gentrification and ethnic concentration."
Revised household population forecasts for the Netherlands are presented for 1993, based on recent data from the Annual Household Statistics. "According to the 1993 household forecasts the number of households will increase from 6.2 million in 1992 to 7.3 million in 2010. The main source of the increase is the rise of the number of one-person households from 1.9 million to 2.7 million. As a result the number of households will increase more strongly than population size. Whereas population size in 2010 will be 11% higher than in 1992, the number of households will rise by 17%." "On the basis of monthly observations in the first eight months, annual totals of births, deaths, marriages and migration were estimated for 1994 [for the Netherlands]. The number of births is expected to be slightly higher and the number of deaths somewhat lower than in 1993. The difference in immigration is more important: the inflow will be much lower than last year. Emigration will only be slightly higher. Due to the decrease in immigration total population growth in 1994 will be smaller than in 1993." (SUMMARY IN ENG)
