[Enterosorption in ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract with concomitant intestinal dysbacteriosis].

Adjuvant use of enterosorbents in combined therapy of gastroduodenal ulcers (158 patients), nonspecific ulcerative colitis with intestinal dysbacteriosis was assessed. Enterosorption in combined therapy of gastrointestinal diseases with dysbacteriosis potentiated positive effect. The highest benefit of enterosorption occurs in intestinal affections (nonspecific ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel-syndrome, chronic enteritis, colitis). In gastroduodenal ulcer lignin sorbent (polyfepan) is preferable. Polyfepan acted positively on intestinal dysbacteriosis through eliminating Escherichia with hemolyzing properties and enterococci, by reducing lack of bifidobacteria.

[A clinico-biochemical basis for the use of enterosorption in severe craniocerebral trauma].

Particular features were studied of the time course of changes in biochemical parameters characterizing endogenous intoxication in severe craniocerebral injury in patients greater than 45 years old. In group 1 patients displaying high values for endotoxicosis, there has been noted lowering of the above values after enterosorption over the immediate twenty-four hours following the injury, accompanied by regression of neurological symptomatology. In group 2 those who had sustained the injury and had normal or moderately elevated values for endotoxicosis on the first day, the latter were found to be on the increase in the time course of acute period of the injury. This necessitated including enterosorption into the therapeutic complex to be inaugurated in all those patients having sustained severe craniocerebral injury, within the above age bracket.

Acute Disease↗

[The use of antioxidants together with polysorb enterosorption in the combined treatment of patients with III-IV-stage ovarian cancer].

Studied in the course of a multiple-modality treatment of patients with stage III to IV ovarian cancer were effects of retinol and tocopheroli acetas and enterosorption with a silicone sorbent polysorb on the processes of lipid peroxidation and indices for the antioxidant system, for which purpose 75 female subjects were examined. The results obtained showed that retinol and tocopheroli acetas and enterosorption combined in treatment of patients with stage III-IV ovarian cancer made for stabilization of the processes of lipid peroxidation as well as for normalization of blood plasma content of factors of the antioxidant defence.

[The efficacy of hemo- and enterosorption in the combined treatment of patients with chronic asthmatic bronchitis].

Data are reported of a comparison of the clinico-immunological efficacy of hemo- and enterosorption in the complex treatment of patients with chronic asthmatic bronchitis. It was found that both sorption methods associated with adequate drug treatment produce a pronounced immunocorrective effect but hemosorption normalizes more quickly the functional activity of T-lymphocytes and number of circulating immune complexes while enterosorption normalizes more quickly the number of T-lymphocytes.

[The immunocorrective and detoxifying actions of hemosorption, plasmapheresis and enterosorption in pemphigus].

Immunity system changes and intoxication characteristics were studied in two groups of patients with pemphigus treated with traditional methods (group 1, 14 patients) and routine therapy combined with hemoperfusion, plasmapheresis, and enterosorption (group 2, 12 patients). During exacerbation pemphigus patients develop manifest changes in the immunity status in the presence of endotoxicosis. Introduction of hemoperfusion, plasmapheresis, and enterosorption in the complexes of treatment of pemphigus patients activates erosion epithelialization, helps sooner reduce the doses of corticosteroids whose total dose is reduced by 39 percent, improves cell-mediated and humoral immunity parameters, and is conducive to a more favorable time course of the body intoxication parameters.

[Enterosorption in the combined therapy of psoriasis patients].

The authors consider the clinical efficacy of enterosorption, carried out in 112 patients with various forms of psoriasis. Indications for and contraindications to this treatment modality are defined. Changes in the level of endogenous intoxication in the paramecium test over the course of enterosorption treatment are analyzed.

[The use of enterosorption in treating patients with chronic asthmatic bronchitis].

The author investigated the efficacy of using enterosorption in the treatment of patients with chronic asthmatic bronchitis. This method was used as monotherapy and in the complex with other pathogenetic agents. A positive dynamics was revealed of almost all indices of external respiration function with normalization of most of them. The severity of bronchospasm reduced. More effective was the use of enterosorption in the complex treatment.

[Antioxidants combined with enterosorption in the symptomatic treatment of ovarian cancer].

As many as 36 patients with III-IV-stage ovarian carcinoma exposed to a symptomatic treatment were examined. The analysis of the studies made showed that the use of antioxidants and enterosorption combined in treatment of the above patients results in lessening of endogenous intoxication, provides immunoprotection, and improves the process of lipid peroxidation.

[Enterosorption in the treatment of chronic kidney failure in patients with surgical diseases of the kidneys].

Enterosgel was used in 89 patients with different stages of renal failure treated surgically and medically. It is concluded that isolated or complex detoxication using enterosgel is a perspective approach in the treatment of patients with surgical renal diseases complicated by chronic renal failure. The use of enterosorption in the preoperative period allows to perform operative intervention in situations when infusion treatment by traditional methods was not sufficient.

Enterosorption↗

[Enterosorption in the combined treatment of patients with salmonellosis].

Two groups of patients were estimated: one received routine treatment supplemented by microspheric carbonic sorbent per os. The sorbent-treated patients showed a more rapid disappearance of nausea, abdominal pain, fever, diarrhea. Enterosorption favoured normalization of the content of immunoglobulins, blood serum lyzozyme, reduction of the length of salmonellosis C-antigenemia.

[Possibilities of using enterosorption in the treatment of myasthenia gravis].

Seventeen patients with generalized myasthenia were treated by the enterosorbent vaulen for 20 days. Of these, 12 patients manifested an appreciable improvement of the well-being shown up by the enhancement of the power of oculomotor, mimic, bulbar, respiratory and body musculature. As a result of the treatment, the dose of anticholinesterase drugs was reduced 2-fold in 12 patients. The intake of these drugs could be fully discontinued in 3 patients. The clinically detectable improvement correlated with an increase of the amplitude of M-response and a reduction of the amplitude decrement during stimulation at a frequency of 3 imp/s. No changes in the electrolyte composition of the blood and protein fractions or other side effects of the drug were discovered. The data obtained served the basis for recommending enterosorption as one of the methods in a complex of treatment measures for patients suffering from myasthenia.

[Use of enterosorption for correction of dyslipoproteinemias in patients with ischemic heart disease in geriatric practice].

Sixty patients with coronary heart disease, stable angina pectoris of functional class II and III and dislipoproteinemia (cholesterol greater than 6.5 mmol/l, triglycerides greater than 2.0 mmol/l, the atherogenic index greater than 3.5) were assigned to two groups. 40 patients received enterosorbent (high-porous, small-spherical fraction of CKH carbon). 20 control subjects were treated with placebo. The patients age ranged from 60 to 74. The treatment course lasted for 4 weeks. Evaluation of the treatment results showed that total cholesterol dropped by 20%, triglycerides by 27%, apoB by 32%, apoB-containing lipoproteins by 20%; there were positive changes in circulation, clinical status (in 60% of cases), exercise tolerance (by 12%). Control patients did not present any noticeable shifts. Thus, enterosorption proved an effective modality of dyslipoproteinemia correction in coronary patients of advanced age.

[Enterosorption and therapeutic fasting in the treatment of patients with bronchial asthma].

To rise the effectiveness of the treatment and reduce its duration as well as to out acidosis, 18 patients with bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive bronchitis were treated by fasting diet and enterosorption. The scheme of the diet was conventional, with intake of SKNP-2 enterosorbent in daily dose 30-60 ml throughout the fasting. The combination of the two treatment methods appeared effective, fasting-related acidosis was not recorded.

[Effect of enterosorption on the course of psoriasis].

Monthly courses of enterosorption given to 23 elderly and senile patients provided a remarkable clinical effect, especially in patients with skin lesions of the hairy part of the head and with seborrhea. Positive changes were recorded in lipid disorders. Administration of the enterosorbent does not lead to any complications, exerts a beneficial effect on the body, promotes polypragmasia reduction.

Aged↗

[The effect of enterosorption on the severity of endogenous intoxication in burns].

The severity of burn toxemia mainly depends on the blood level of endotoxins, produced by bowel bacteria. The dynamics of endotoxemia have its supreme expression at the first day of burn injury. Enterosorption promotes significant decrease in blood concentrations of endotoxins and middle molecular mass peptides, depression of their cytological action, improvement of glycogen- and protidin-synthetizing hepatic function.

[Changes in immunological reactivity during the use of enterosorption in combined treatment of children with severe burns].

In 20 children with severe and extremely severe burns since the 3-4th day the enterosorption in the treatment complex was applied. The enterosorbents application have promoted the intoxication severity lowering, the decrease of the damaging action of blood formed elements on the erythrocytes of their own, the lowering of plasma toxic properties, rosette level in peripheral blood. On the 16-18th day after injury the red blood indexes have normalized, allowing to prepare the patients to the operative treatment.

[Changes in the hemostatic system indices of patients with chronic kidney failure under the influence of enterosorption and plasmapheresis].

A total of 83 patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) at azotemia stage (S. I. Riabov's classification) complicating pyelonephritis were treated: 19 patients received symptomatic standard therapy (group 1), 29 patients received combined therapy with enterosorption (group 2), 35 patients received combined treatment with plasmapheresis (group 3). The efficacy of the treatments was controlled by platelet tests (platelet, coagulative hemostasis, fibrinolytic plasma activity) and parameters of kallikrein-kinin system. Treatment results in group 1 are characterized as poor: insignificant improvement of uremia, DIC syndrome against unchanged inhibition of kallikrein-kinin system. Group 2 patients achieved moderate response: uremia reduced to normal azotemia values, DIC syndrome and inhibition of kallikrein-kinin system reduced. Patients of group 3 got disappeared DIC syndrome and normal kallikrein-kinin system against high azotemia.
