The Athlete and Menstruation.

In the past 20 years, a large number of female children and adolescents have begun participating in sports and physical activities previously not open to them. Female athletes may present with disorders of menstruation, such as delayed menarche, amenorrhea, oligomenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, and anovulation with irregular cycles.
