Clustering of provinces according to socio-economic variables.

This study is concerned with the identification of provinces in Turkey with similar characteristics. The author suggests that "it is possible to form groups of observations in terms of the differences of values of a set of variables and order them according to their relative positions. In this study, using 45 variables derived from 1985 General Census, 18 provinces with first degree priority in development were clustered.... Provinces with high priority could be displayed more explicitly and efficient action could be taken to improve the conditions in those provinces." (SUMMARY IN TUR)

Information on the extent of abortion is generally obtained through direct enquiries of women. However, there is always the possibility of underreporting abortion due to several factors. In this article, the results of a study on underreporting of abortion in Cubuk Health Center are presented. Unlike the findings of similar studies, the overall underreporting of all abortion was only 4% and no relationship was found between the underreporting rate and sociodemographic characteristics of the women. The results have been discussed in the context of the special features of the health services provided in the study area.

[Estimation of the population structure of the Etimesgut Health District in the year 2025].

The author forecasts the population of the Etimesgut Health District in Turkey for the year 2025 under certain assumptions. "According to these basic assumptions [the] crude birth rate will decrease to 14 per thousand and [the] crude death rate will increase to 9.47 per thousand within 35 years.... According to these results, the population pyramids of the Etimesgut Health District were drawn for different years. As it will be seen, the population structure will not be like today's developed countries' population structure until the year 2070." (SUMMARY IN ENG)
