4-aminometyl-3-nitrobenzoic acid--a photocleavable linker for oligonucleotides containing combinatorial libraries.

We detail the design, synthesis, and characterization of an o-nitrobenzyl-based photolabile linker containing amine and carboxyl anchor groups. A model nucleoside monomer modified with an imidazole residue and a precursor unit linked to a heterocyclic base through a photolabile tether is constructed Upon UV irradiation (313- 365 nm), the imidazole containing part of this molecule is released.

The effect of pralidoxime chloride in the assay of acetylcholinesterase using 5,5'-dithio-bis(2-nitrobenzoic acid) (Ellman's reagent).

Pralidoxime chloride (PAM) hydrolyzes acetylthiocholine, the substrate used in the assay of red cell cholinesterase. The thiocholine that is produced forms a yellow complex when Ellman's reagent is used in the assay. This was tested in blood samples of patients who were treated with PAM after organophosphorus (OP) poisoning and after the observation of an immediate increase in absorption of light at 412 nm.

3-Butyl-1-(5-nitrobenzo[c][1,2]thiazol-3-yl)-3-phenyltriazene.

The molecule of the title compound, C(17)H(17)N(5)O(2)S, consists of three pi systems, viz. two aromatic rings and the triazene moiety, which are mutually deconjugated although coplanar. The n-butyl chain is roughly perpendicular to the molecular plane, with the terminal methylene and methyl groups disordered between two equally populated positions. The molecules in the crystal associate in an antiparallel fashion, forming dimers across the centre of symmetry, the principal intradimer interaction being stacking of the pi-electron portions of the molecules.

3-iodoanilinium 2-carboxy-6-nitrobenzoate: a three-dimensional framework built from O-H...O and N-H...O hydrogen bonds and a two-centre iodo-nitro interaction.

In the title compound, C6H7IN+.C8H4NO6-, the anions are linked by a single type of O-H...O hydrogen bond into C(7) chains, and these chains are linked via three independent N-H...O hydrogen bonds into sheets. The sheets, in turn, are linked by a two-centre iodo-nitro interaction into a single three-dimensional framework.
