Amperometric immunosensors based on rigid conducting immunocomposites.

Novel polishable immunosensors based on rigid biocomposite materials have been constructed. These biocomposites contain graphite powder, rabbit IgG, and methacrylate or epoxy resins. This material acts as a reservoir for the biological molecules and as a transducer at the same time. In order to study the potential analytical properties of this new type of material, a competitive binding assay was developed to determine the RIgG present in a sample with the aid of goat anti-rabbit IgG labeled with alkaline phosphatase. Using phenyl phosphate as a substrate, the phenol produced by the enzymatic reaction was amperometrically detected at 800 mV (vs Ag/AgC1). The surface of the immunosensor can be regenerated by simply polishing, obtaining fresh immunocomposite ready to be used in a new competitive assay.

Tris(mercaptoimidazolyl)borate complexes of the coinage metals: syntheses and molecular structures of the first gold compounds and related copper and silver derivatives.

The first tris(mercaptoimidazolyl)borate complexes of gold, Au(Tm(tBu)) and (Tm(tBu))Au(PPh3), have been prepared and structurally characterized. Together with their copper and silver analogues M(Tm(tBu)) and (Tm(tBu))M(PPh3)(M = Cu, Ag), these compounds constitute the first two complete series of Tm(R) derivatives to be isolated for the coinage metals. In order to evaluate the steric and electronic effects of the bulky tert-butyl substituents in these species, comparative structural analyses with the known methyl-substituted analogue Ag(Tm(Me)) and various (Tm(Me))M(PR3) derivatives (M = Cu, Ag) are also presented.

Synthesis and characterization of thiolate-Ag(I) complexes by solid-state and solution NMR and their antimicrobial activity.

Silver(I) complexes of several thiolates have been prepared. These complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis and 13C NMR spectroscopy. All the Ag(I)-thiolate complexes are polymeric in nature. Therefore, 13C CP MAS NMR is being used extensively to analyze the binding site of the ligand and the nature of complexation. A significant shift difference was observed for S binding site whereas smaller shift was observed for carboxylate binding site. The antimicrobial activities for Ag(I)-glutathione complex was measured and compared with Ag(I)-captopril complex.

Diastereoselectivity enhancement in the 1,3-cycloaddition of beta-lactam aldehydes. Application to the synthesis of enantiopure indolizidinone amino esters.

[reaction: see text] Enantiopure alpha-alkoxy beta-lactam acetaldehydes were prepared via the thiazole-based one-carbon homologation. The 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction involving alpha-alkoxy beta-lactam acetaldehyde-derived azomethine ylides gave with excellent diastereoselectivity highly functionalized 2-azetidinone-tethered prolines, which were directly used for the first preparation of azabicyclo[4.3.0]nonane (indolizidinone) amino esters from beta-lactams.
