Therapeutic effect of antiaggregation drugs in patients with vasoautomomic dystonia with initial signs of insufficient blood supply to the brain. In 43 patients with vasoautonomic dystonia and initial manifestations fo cerebral circulation insufficiency, the effects of aggregation-inhibiting drugs (dipyrodamol, metindol, stugeron, prodectin) on blood coagulation and rheology, platelet aggregation and general hemodynamics were studied. Antiaggregation drugs were shown to be the tools of choice which could be administered with due account of baseline hemostasis and the type of cerebral hemocirculation, and of their selective action on the carotid and vertebrobasilar cerebral vessels.
A total of 230 patients with neurocirculatory dystonia (NCD) were investigated. Different mental disorders associated with the atherogenic nature of dyslipoproteinemia were revealed in the majority of patients using the clinical scale and MMPI test. Psychotropic agents used for a period of 2-4 mos improved the mental status of these patients, increased exercise tolerance, and decreased blood levels of free fatty acids (FFA). A course of exercise training (graded walking) for 4-6 mos. helped to enhance exercise tolerance, to lower the blood levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, FFA, the total fraction of low- and very low-density lipoproteins, to reduce manifestations of hypochondriasis, depression, and neurasthenia . The results obtained can be used for developing programs of NCD patients' rehabilitation.

Investigated were 55 patients with slow-progredient schizophrenia and cyclothymia aged 17 to 25 with the syndrome of vaso-autonomic dystonia (VAD) accompanying their mental disorder. VAD was found in 80% of the depressive cases, hypomaniac syndromes and psychopath-like (residual) states. Each of these disorders correlated with a distinct type of VAD. In a majority of the cases VAD manifested after several years of mental disease. The study provides grounds for combined psychotropic and rational psychotherapy with an early social rehabilitating assistance. The study substantiated the necessity of psychiatric services aimed at specialized psychiatric aid to these patients in the general out-patient clinic network.
Eleven healthy male volunteers, aged 45-55 years, with neurocirculatory dystonia of the hypertensive type were exposed to 7-day dry immersion. The following parameters were measured: central and peripheral hemodynamics (by the method of rheography), linear blood flow velocity, and orthostatic tolerance before and after immersion. During an acute period of adaptation to immersion the test subjects developed: centralization of blood filling of the head and lungs, decrease of stroke volume and cardiac output, increase of linear blood flow velocity in forearm arteries and its decrease in leg arteries, drastic decline of orthostatic tolerance.

As many as 177 patients were subjected to a clinical analysis of the course of vegetovascular dystonia within the scope of the nosologic structure of neuroses with different semiologic manifestations. Use was made of the polymodal clinical classification of vegetovascular dystonia with regard to the vegetative background, from, course, character and rate of crises. It has been established that vegetative function in neuroses is determined by different conditions of the vegetative tone, reactivity and vegetative supply of the activity which requires a differentiated approach to the treatment with an adequate selection of the sympathetic and parasympathetic remedies.

A larger proportion of patients with neurocirculatory dystonia of the cardiac type was found to show atherogenic disturbances of lipid metabolism, the most changes being observed in subjects with the moderate and severe cardiac pain symptom, decreased exercise tolerance, mental disorders and being associated with the traits of a personality. Hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia were present in about half of the patients. As for blood lipids, free fatty acids showed higher concentrations to the greatest extent.
