[The immunocorrection with Aerosil-350 of the natural resistance of mice found under conditions of an elevated radiation background].

Experiments on the CBA mice that had been within 30 km of the Chernobyl NPP accident for 3 months revealed a decrease in the phagocytic and bactericidal properties of peritoneal macrophages accompanied with a disturbance in the production of interleukin-1 and a tumor necrosis factor responsible for the cell immunity. A single administration of a silicon-containing enterosorbent Aerosil-350 expedient to remove radionuclides and ensure the organism detoxication made it possible to correct and restore the affected cell and organism immunity for 7 days.

[Immune disorders in acute pancreatitis and principles of immunocorrecting therapy].

An expert system of diagnosis of the immune disorders types according to Gell and Coombs classification was for the first time applied in the examination of 63 patients with different forms of an acute pancreatitis (AP). The individualized schemes of the immunocorrecting therapy depending on the type of disorder and the grade of the intoxication syndrome present were elaborated.

[Effect of a novel combined enterosorbent "Ultrasorb" on biochemical and morphologic blood parameters].

In order to estimate toxicity of a novel composition, enterosorbent "ultrasorb", its toxic properties were studied in trials on experimental animals (white rats, mice, guinea pigs). Great variety of hematolytic, biochemical and pathohistologic parameters were determined to evaluate homeostasis. As a result of toxicity trials in acute and subacute experiments as well as in embryotoxic, teratogenic and allergic tests we have concluded that enterosorbent "Ultrasorb" is absolutely harmless and can be recommended for further trials in clinics.

[Evaluation of clinical effectiveness of the use of enterosorbent enterosgel in patients with diabetes mellitus and suppurative-inflammatory lesions of soft tissues].

While complex application of "Enterosgel" preparation in 47 patients with diabetes mellitus the acceleration of disease compensation was noted, what permitted to lower the sugar-reducing preparations dosage. This correspondingly improved the cholesterol indexes in blood plasma, what have illustrated the detoxication processes in organism and softening of purulent-inflammatory processes.

[Effect of the enterosorbent Aqualen on intestinal carcinogenesis induced by 1,2-dimethylhydrazine in rats].

Subcutaneous injections of 21 mg/kg 1,2-dimethylhydrazine were given weekly to 134 female LI0 rats. In the first series, 73 rats received 15 injections while 63 animals--5 injections (series 11). Some rats were also fed Aqualen (0.1 or 1.0 g/kg b.w.) during the whole experiment (6 months). In run 1, all animals developed malignant tumors of the colon. However, multiple tumors in Aqualen-fed rats were significantly less frequent than in those receiving carcinogenic agent alone. Also, Aqualen appeared to inhibit the development of carcinoma in the small intestine. In run 11, Aqualen treatment was followed by decreased incidence and multiplicity of tumors both in the entire large intestine and ascending and descending colon. Rectal tumor incidence was lower, too. In both runs, tumor size in enterosorbent-fed animals was smaller than in controls. All intestinal tumors were adenocarcinomas. No pathology was observed in Aqualen-fed rats untreated with the carcinogenic agent.

[Enterosorbents in the treatment of atherosclerosis].

The article lists, characterizes, and discusses the mechanism of the action of endosorbents possessing hypocholesteremic and hypolipidemic effects. Among them are natural endosorbents--food fibers (cellulose, hemicellulose, pectins, gum, mucus, lignin and chitin compounds, etc.); artificial specific affinin and nonspecific carbonic enterosorbents (carbonitrate family, granulated, fibrous), as well as silica (aerosil, polysorb). The effectiveness and pathogenetic expediency of correcting disorders of lipid metabolism in atherosclerosis with enterosorbents is substantiated.

[The prevention of autoimmune kidney lesions developing in long-term exposure to epoxy compounds].

Clinical and biochemical, immunological and histological studies made in animals under inhalation exposure to volatile components of a new epoxy resin have yielded evidence in support of the development of autoimmune pathology (glomerulonephritis). One-stage determination of the amount of the blood serum circulating immune complexes and of the degree of sensibilization of bodily immunocompetent cells to a chemical (epichlorhydrin) and tissue (kidney) allergens in whole blood are regarded as a test for early diagnosis of glomerulonephritis. The enterosorbent "Ensoral" inhibits the development of those autoimmune processes being caused by bodily exposure to high concentrations of volatile components of epoxy resins.

[The efficacy of enterosorbents and antioxidants in the treatment of chronic liver diseases of alcoholic etiology].

Efficacies were studied of enterosorbents (ES) and antioxidants (AO) combined in treatment of chronic hepatic pathology of alcoholic etiology. 102 patients were given ES (enterosgel, polysorb, sillard) in combination with tocopheroli acetas over 6 to 10 days. The control group comprised 84 individuals. A positive effect was ascertained of an ES + AO combination on the clinical course of the illness and on the immunological indices, which observation warrants the above drugs to be included into a combined treatment of patients presenting with chronic disorders of the liver of alcoholic etiology.

[The ultrastructural organization of the epitheliocytes in the rat small intestine with the long-term use of the artificial carbon-mineral sorbent SUMS-1].

Long-term oral treatment with antisorbent SUMS-1 promoted the increase of absorptive surface of intestinal villi due to growth in number and height of epitheliocyte microvilli. Mitochondrial volume density, superficial density of external mitochondrial membrane and epithelial basement membrane volume density tended to grow, while volume density of interdigitations of outer membrane lateral portions and enterocyte intercellular spaces tended to reduce. These changes probably indicate the increase of cell adaptive potential.
