[Sexual disorders in women with slowly progressing schizophrenia].

The article deals with sexual disorders in the form of lack of libido, decreased libido, anorgasmy, decreased orgasmic response, loss of the emotional element of libido, predominance of the rational element of sexual libido, manifestations of pseudovaginismus and unmotivated revulsion toward sexual intercourse in women (aged 20-47 years) with slowly progressive schizophrenia and a 2-15 year history of the endogenic process. Definite correlations between psychopathological and sexual pathological manifestations have been ascertained. Sexual disorders were of a secondary systemic nature and were undetected if the endogenic process began after the completion of all stages of normal psychosexual development.

Israeli adolescents and military service: encounters.

Problems of mental health during combat activities are well documented in Israel (Dasberg, 1976). Much less attention has been paid to the problems of the young soldier who enters army life in Israel. This paper delineates some areas of friction and vulnerability between the worlds of the youth and the military. These encounters are systematized into groups, creating the "Binary Model." This model, based on the authors' experience as clinicians in the I.D.F. Central Mental Health Clinic, helps in locating and treating young soldiers in crisis situations.

[The pedophilic criminal].

After a review of the literature dealing with pedophilia, the results of an analysis of 100 forensic psychiatric reports dealing with pedophile criminals are described. They show that, except for a few homosexual pedophiles, pedophilia is a pseudoperversion originating from different developmental conditions and, in individual cases, verifiable personality traits. The authors discuss problems involved in the forensic-psychiatric assessment of these delinquents. Attention is drawn to the necessity of purposeful, coordinated further education in this respect to enable the existing considerable discrepancies between forensic-psychiatric evaluation of these and other sexual deviants to be overcome.

The adolescent with a learning disability: a developmental perspective.

The psychosocial difficulties that usually accompany learning disabilities are examined from a framework of developmental theory, particularly that of Erik Erikson. The implications of this perspective for treatment of adolescents with learning problems is discussed, and a specific program described.

[To be (a girl) or not to be! Or the sex of the angels? Problems in individuation (and identification) in a 3-year-old child. Case report, theoretical comments, treatment].

During a lengthy hospitalization in a pedopsychiatric department, with an intermediate several-week period at home, a child seen at the age of three with severe disorders of relationships and identity was able to progress significantly and to improve organization of personality. The authors report this case and show that this child's problems are largely due to the distortion of family relationships and personal identification problems of the two young parents who were unable to assume freely their own parental role for this child.

Sexual counselling of the family.

The general practitioner's important role as a counsellor on sexual matters is stressed. The psychosexual development of an individual is discussed. Some neglected conditions where family counselling may be required are presented, together with suggestions for the management of the sexual aspects of chronic illnesses and conditions.
