ISMOD: an all-subsets regression program for generalized linear models. II. Program guide and examples.

This paper describes a system written to carry out regression analyses under certain generalized linear models that are widely used in biomedical research. These include continuous response models such as the Weibull, log logistic, log normal and Cox proportional hazards models used in survival analysis, and also discrete Poisson, binomial and multinomial response regression models. The system fits models, generates residuals and other diagnostic output, and also has an all-subsets regression feature. This paper describes the ISMOD system and presents examples of its application; Part I describes the models implemented and gives statistical background.

Endoscopic training in the academic GI program. Program Directors Workshop, March 29 and 30, 1984, Atlanta, Georgia. How the GI pathologist can interact best with the GI trainee.

Effective collaboration between endoscopists is essential if optimal results from gastrointestinal biopsy are to be achieved. Agreed upon ways to enhance communication should be established, such as special requisition forms and regular conferences to discuss biopsy findings. Endoscopists and pathologists should know about and feel free to discuss the other specialist's procedures and techniques. Furthermore, all procedures and techniques for obtaining, handling, and reaching diagnostic conclusions from biopsy specimens need to be carefully examined and optimized. Recommended approaches are presented.

Microcomputer programming in basic for the evaluation of capillary gas chromatography in the analysis of pesticide residues. I. MATRIXCOMP--a program that facilitates the recognition of interfering peaks from the biological matrix.

Chromatograms of pesticide residues in food include peaks produced by pesticides and matrix compounds. Pesticide peaks are recognized by means of relative retention times and response factors; two detectors are used and internal standard methods are applied. Chromatograms of reference samples for all types of food are stored as raw data in a reduced format, together with tables of all chromatographic data for the matrix compounds. MATRIXCOMP provides the analyst with the chromatograms of the actual sample and the reference in parallel on a visual display screen for visual comparison. Simultaneously, the relevant chromatographic data for the sample, the reference and the calibration tables are displayed on a second screen page in a condensed form.
