Radiation retinopathy treated with the krypton red laser.

We present two cases of radiation retinopathy treated with the krypton red laser (647 nm). The macular edema and exudates resolved completely after treatment, but visual acuity improved only partially due to the development of a lamellar macular hole. The rationale for laser therapy and the selection of the red wavelength are discussed.

Krypton laser photocoagulation of peripapillary choroidal neovascular membrane.

The Macular Photocoagulation Study criteria require that at least 1.5 clock hours of temporal peripapillary retina be spared when treating choroidal neovascular membrane in that location. The authors successfully treated peripapillary choroidal neovascular membrane involving temporal 180 degrees with the krypton laser without any loss of visual acuity and central field.
