Effectiveness of Topical Huzhang Sanhuang with Standard Nursing for Chemotherapy-Induced Phlebitis: Randomized Controlled Study.

Chemotherapy-induced phlebitis (CIP) is a common complication of peripheral intravenous chemotherapy that can cause pain, local inflammation, treatment interruption, and diminished quality of life. This randomized controlled trial evaluated the efficacy and safety of the topical Huzhang Sanhuang (HZSH) formula, combined with standard nursing care, in managing CIP. Ninety-four hospitalized patients with CIP (grade I or higher) were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive either topical HZSH formula plus standard nursing care (experimental group, n = 47) or 50% magnesium sulfate wet dressing plus standard nursing care (control group, n = 47) for 14 days. Prespecified outcomes included phlebitis grade, visual analog scale (VAS) pain score, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), symptom resolution time, and safety indicators. By Day 14, patients in the experimental group demonstrated significantly greater improvement in phlebitis severity than those in the control group (risk ratio for grade ≥ II, 0.42; 95% confidence interval, 0.20-0.87; P = 0.012). The experimental group also showed significantly larger reductions in VAS pain scores, hs-CRP levels, and IL-6 concentrations (all P < 0.01). Kaplan-Meier analysis further demonstrated faster resolution of multiple local symptoms in the experimental group. Treatment adherence was high in both groups, and no serious adverse events or major safety concerns were observed. These findings indicate that the topical HZSH formula, combined with standard nursing care, is a safe and effective integrative nursing intervention that accelerates clinical recovery, alleviates local symptoms, and reduces the inflammatory burden in patients with chemotherapy-induced phlebitis.

Comparative Efficacy and Safety of Adjunctive 0.015% Triamcinolone Acetonide Topical Spray With Lokivetmab Versus Lokivetmab Monotherapy as 'Reactive Therapy' for Canine Atopic Dermatitis: A Randomised, Single-Blinded, Controlled Preliminary Trial.

BACKGROUND: Lokivetmab is considered an effective systemic therapy for dogs with atopic dermatitis (AD); however, utilisation of lokivetmab with adjunctive topical anti-inflammatory glucocorticoids has not been investigated in canine AD. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the combination therapy of lokivetmab and 0.015% triamcinolone acetonide (TCA) spray in dogs with AD. ANIMALS: Twenty dogs with nonseasonal AD. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study was a randomised, single-blinded (investigators only) 4-week controlled trial. Dogs were randomised to receive lokivetmab monotherapy or lokivetmab-TCA spray per manufacturer instructions. Clinical assessments included the Canine Atopic Dermatitis Extent and Severity Index, 4th iteration (CADESI-04), CADESI-04E (i.e., extracted erythema grade alone) and the 10-grade pruritus Visual Analog Scale (PVAS10) at Day (D)0, D14 and D28. Complete blood count and serum biochemical analysis were performed on D0 and D28. RESULTS: The median CADESI-04 and CADESI-04E scores in the lokivetmab-TCA group were significantly reduced on D14 (p < 0.05 for both) and D28 (p < 0.01 for both) compared to baseline; there were no significant differences in lesional scores at any time point for the lokivetmab monotherapy group. Lokivetmab-TCA significantly reduced CADESI-04E values compared to the lokivetmab monotherapy group on D28 (p = 0.04). Both interventions significantly reduced PVAS10 scores on D14 and D28 compared to D0 (p < 0.05 for both groups). CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Topical application of TCA spray may be a useful and safe adjunctive therapy for systemic lokivetmab to alleviate pruritus and clinical lesions in the initial management of canine AD patients.

Effectiveness of psychologically informed physical therapy, tendon-specific exercise program and routine physical therapy in prolonged unilateral shoulder pain and symptom correlations with imaging: a single-center, randomized, parallel-group, three-arm study (RESPECT).

BACKGROUND: Shoulder complaints are one of the most common musculoskeletal ailments. Patient-specific characteristics such as obesity, depression and physical labor are established risk factors, whereas imaging findings are common and associations between specific imaging findings and symptomatology is limited. General exercises are considered useful in treatment whereas evidence for specific tendon exercises is lacking. Biopsychosocial model is also recommended, but has not been extensively studied concerning shoulder symptoms. This article describes the study protocol designed to evaluate the effectiveness and the cost-effectiveness of routine and specific physical therapy (PT) interventions. Imaging is performed for descriptive, longitudinal and imaging-symptom correlation studies. METHODS: The Rehabilitation of Shoulder Pain: Evaluation and Clinical Trial (RESPECT) is a randomized three-arm parallel-group study involving 300 participants aged 20 to 60 years with prolonged unilateral shoulder pain. Participants will receive either routine PT, physiotherapist-guided tendon-specific exercise program or psychologically informed PT. Bilateral shoulder radiographs, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging will be done at the baseline and at 12 and 36 months. Electronic surveys will be completed at the baseline and at 3, 6, 12 and 36 months. The primary outcome will be patient-specific functional scale (PSFS) at 12 months, analyzed using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA), adjusted for baseline PSFS. DISCUSSION: RESPECT will provide systematic and controlled data regarding different PT interventions in prolonged shoulder symptoms, which is currently limited. Being one of the most common sources of musculoskeletal pain, improved management could reduce symptom-related burden and prolonged functional impairment at individual and population level. Skin barrier repairing and anti-aging effects evaluation of a comprehensive topical regimen incorporating niacinamide, Pro-Xylane, and panthenol after PicoWay laser: a randomized controlled study.

Pro-Xylane is a potent anti-aging ingredient; however, there is limited knowledge regarding whether a comprehensive post-procedure regimen incorporating a combination of Pro-Xylane, niacinamide, and panthenol alongside other active agents can deliver synergistic benefits for both skin barrier repair and anti-aging. This study assesses the effectiveness of the REGENMEDIC cream (anti-aging cream) and REGENMEDIC serum (anti-aging serum) in promoting skin barrier recovery and enhancing anti-aging effects following PicoWay laser treatment. A 112-day randomized controlled trial was conducted with 88 Chinese females, who were divided into two groups: the test group, using REGENMEDIC cream and Serum following PicoWay laser treatment, and the control group, using standard care regimen consisting of a standard cream. Skin barrier-repairing effects were assessed during the initial 14 days following a single use of REGENMEDIC cream, while skin elasticity, firmness, wrinkles and skin tone were evaluated over the 112-day study period after the combined use of REGENMEDIC cream and Serum. The test group exhibited lower transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and higher hydration after 14 days compared to the control group, along with a more significant reduction in skin redness. After 112-day use of REGENMEDIC cream and serum, test group showed increased skin elasticity and firmness, reduced wrinkles, and an overall improvement in skin tone and texture. Dermatologists reported excellent tolerability, with minimal adverse events. Initial application of the REGENMEDIC cream facilitated rapid skin barrier repair, while the subsequent sequential regimen incorporating the serum yielded significant long-term anti-aging benefits following PicoWay laser treatment. This study demonstrates that targeting multiple physiological pathways-specifically hydration, barrier integrity, and cellular senescence-provides a robust therapeutic option for amplifying the anti-aging outcomes of aesthetic procedures.

A validated sensitive LC-MS/MS method and its application in elucidating the unique ocular pharmacokinetic profile of 0.01% atropine underpinning its clinical utility for myopia.

A sensitive liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method was developed and validated to quantify atropine in ten rabbit ocular tissues enabling systematic characterization of the ocular pharmacokinetic profile of 0.01% atropine sulfate eye drops after a single topical administration. The method demonstrated excellent linearity (coefficient of determination, R2 ≥ 0.9908) across all matrices, with lower limits of quantification (LLOQ) of 0.05 ng/mL for most tissues and 0.10 ng/mL for retina and lens; intra- and inter-day accuracy, precision, matrix effects, extraction recoveries, and stability all met the acceptance criteria. Following a single bilateral topical dose (50 μL/eye) in New Zealand White rabbits, atropine distributed rapidly into all 12 ocular compartments (the sclera further divided into three anatomical regions) with marked heterogeneity-the highest exposures were found in conjunctiva and cornea, a distinct anterior-to-posterior concentration gradient was observed in the sclera, sustained retention was noted in the retina (mean residence time from zero to the last measurable time point, MRT0-t 3.30 h), while aqueous and vitreous humor eliminated rapidly (elimination half-life, t₁/₂ < 0.7 h), and all tissues except aqueous humor followed a two-compartment model. This validated method and the comprehensive pharmacokinetic data reveal that topically applied 0.01% atropine achieves sustained exposure in key myopia-regulating tissues (retina, choroid, posterior sclera) with low exposure in side-effect target tissues (iris, ciliary body, lens).

Simultaneous determination of imiquimod and terbinafine in skin permeation studies: Validation of a liquid chromatography method with fluorescence detection.

Chromoblastomycosis is a chronic, neglected subcutaneous mycosis posing significant therapeutic challenges. A topical strategy combining terbinafine (TBF), an antifungal, with imiquimod (IMQ), a TLR-7/8 agonist immunomodulator, has emerged a promising alternative. However, no validated analytical method is currently available to simultaneously quantify both drugs in skin, which is crucial for novel formulation development. This study reports the development and validation of a simple HPLC method with fluorescence detection (excitation 236 nm, emission 340 nm) for the simultaneous determination of TBF and IMQ extracted from porcine skin. Separation was achieved on a C8 reversed-phase column (125 × 4.0 mm, 5 μm) using a mobile phase of methanol and water (60,40, v/v), both containing 0.1% formic acid at a flow rate of 0.8 mL/min. The method showed excellent linearity (r > 0.999) over 0.01-1.0 μg/mL for IMQ and 0.1-2.0 μg/mL for TBF. Intra- and inter-day precision demonstrated coefficients of variation below 5%, and recovery rates from skin (79-105%) confirmed accuracy. Limits of detection were 0.001 μg/mL for IMQ and 0.004 μg/mL for TBF, with quantification limits of 0.02 μg/mL and 0.16 μg/mL, respectively. This selective, sensitive, and reproducible method represents a valuable analytical tool for supporting the development and quality control of topical formulations for chromoblastomycosis and other fungal skin diseases.

Voluntary Knowledge Brokering to Promote Evidence-Based Nursing Practice: A Qualitative Study.

Knowledge brokering is a process of connecting knowledge producers with users to facilitate evidence-based practice through relationship building and information sharing. This descriptive qualitative study aimed to clarify knowledge brokering by nurses in Japanese hospitals. Twelve registered nurses in Japanese hospitals participated. They had over 5 years' clinical experience, including experience in conducting research, particularly staff research, and education. Data were collected through semi-structured individual interviews and analyzed using qualitative content analysis. The analysis revealed a central theme: continuous efforts to foster empathy among colleagues and spontaneously promote evidence-based practice: multifaceted brokering activities by clinical nurses. Findings identified 10 categories categorized into four interconnected gears: establishing the foundational ground, assessing clinical needs and staff readiness, tailoring and diffusing evidence, and sustaining and evolving evidence-based practice. Even nurses without formal titles voluntarily bridged the research-practice gap, providing new insights into informal brokering. Brokers communicated considerately, balanced evidence with clinical context, negotiated practical compromises, and fostered staff research competency.

Family-Wise Error Rate Control in Clinical Trials With Overlapping Populations.

We consider clinical trials with multiple, overlapping patient populations that test multiple treatment policies specifically tailored to these populations. Such designs may lead to multiplicity issues, as false statements will affect several populations. For type I error control, often the family-wise error rate (FWER) is controlled, which is the probability to reject at least one true null hypothesis. If the joint distribution of the test statistics is known, the FWER level can be exhausted by determining critical values or adjusted-levels. The adjustment is typically done under the common ANOVA assumptions. However, the performed tests are then only valid under the rather strong assumption of homogeneous null effects, that is, when the null hypothesis applies to all subpopulations and their intersections. We show that under cancelling null effects, when heterogeneous effects cancel out in some or all subpopulations, this procedure does not provide FWER control. We also suggest different alternatives and compare them in terms of FWER control and their power.

Walking Together: A Cross-Cultural Study of the Relationship Between Religiosity and Substance Use Disorder.

The literature suggests that religiosity is a protective factor for substance use. However, individuals with substance use disorder (SUD) may actively cultivate their religiosity during substance use. This qualitative study analyzed the perceptions and meanings homeless people attribute to their substance use trajectories and religiosity, as well as the potential connections between these two themes. The analysis was conducted based on the content analysis technique proposed by Bardin. A total of 40 semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 Brazilian and 20 Portuguese participants. The present study found that religiosity can play a role in the substance use trajectory and the development of SUD by offering a subjective sense of protection, serving as a marker for the need for change, or providing relief from the suffering associated with SUD. We discuss how homeless people with SUD experience religiosity and how religious aspects traditionally seen as protective in the literature, such as church attendance, may paradoxically become risk factors for these socially vulnerable populations.

Virtual Reality Education for Hospitalized Pediatric Patients Improves Intrinsic Motivation: A Prospective, Randomized Crossover Study.

Hospitalized children experience educational disruption and reduced motivation during prolonged admissions. Despite the availability of in-hospital schools, many cannot participate due to illness severity or isolation precautions. This pragmatic, randomized crossover trial evaluated whether bedside virtual reality (VR) lessons improve intrinsic motivation among inpatients aged 5 to 25 years unable to attend the hospital school. Participants completed both VR-based educational sessions and standard of care (SOC) conditions on consecutive days. The primary outcome was intrinsic motivation, with secondary outcomes including educational self-efficacy, well-being, self-esteem, and parental experience. Of 156 enrolled patients, 100 were analyzed (mean age 11.5 [SD = 4.1 years]; 43.9% female). Intrinsic motivation scores were higher in the VR condition than SOC (P = .0048), and parental satisfaction was also greater (P = .0008). Bedside VR education represents a feasible, acceptable, and scalable adjunct to inpatient learning, supporting intrinsic motivation and caregiver satisfaction during hospitalization.Trial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov NCT05725395, date first registered November 22, 2022.

Detectable C-Peptide and Diabetic Ketoacidosis Risk in Type 1 Diabetes.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate whether detectable C-peptide levels in type 1 diabetes is associated with a lower risk of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: We analyzed the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial publicly available data repository for the association between detectable stimulated C-peptide (>0.2 nmol/mL, measured annually) and DKA incidence over an average 6.5-year follow-up. We used crude and adjusted Andersen-Gill models for recurrent DKA events with time-dependent covariates. RESULTS: Of the 1,441 participants (53% male, median age 27 years), 129 (9%) experienced 180 DKA events. Of these events, 179 (99.44%) occurred after C-peptide was ≤0.2 nmol/L in the prior year and only 1 event occurred with C-peptide >0.2 nmol/L. C-peptide >0.2 nmol/L was associated with a DKA hazard ratio of 0.07 (95% CI 0.01-0.48; P = 0.007), consistent across adjusted models. CONCLUSIONS: Endogenous insulin production was significantly associated with lower DKA risk, suggesting that treatments preserving insulin production could decrease long-term DKA risk.

The Meaning and Significance of Breastfeeding for Biological Mothers of Children with Cleft Lip and/or Palate.

INTRODUCTION: Given the functional, emotional, and symbolic challenges imposed by cleft lip and/or palate (CL/P) on exclusive breastfeeding (EBF), mothers often experience early breastfeeding cessation with impacts on maternal identity and the mother-infant bond. This study aimed to explore the meanings, feelings, and experiences of mothers of children with CL/P regarding breastfeeding in the face of these adversities. METHODS: This qualitative study applied the Clinical-Qualitative Method as proposed by Turato. Six in-depth semistructured interviews were conducted with biological mothers of children with CL/P, recruited from a specialized craniofacial reference center in Brazil. Data were analyzed using a qualitative content analysis approach, grounded in psychodynamic concepts from the Medical Psychology theoretical framework. RESULTS: Based on the analysis of the collected material, three analytical categories were identified and constructed: (1) "Existential conflict regarding the inability to fulfill the ideal maternal role"; (2) "Duality between the need and the fear of caregiving"; and (3) "The anguish experienced between tangible and intangible support during breastfeeding."Conclusions:Although the inability to EBF in children with CL/P generates emotional distress, motherhood is reimagined through adaptive forms of care and bonding, highlighting gaps in institutional support and the need for more humanized, emotionally sensitive health practices.

Educational Effects of Electronic Documents and Videos on Parents' Responses to Acute Illness in Young Children: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

AIM: This study compared changes associated with electronic document-based and video-based education for parents responding to acute illness in young children, focusing on self-reported knowledge, anxiety, and satisfaction. METHODS: A randomized controlled trial with pre- and post-intervention measurements was conducted among 140 adults in Japan who self-reported raising a child under 3 years of age and having experienced their child's acute illness. Participants were assigned to an electronic document group or a video group (n = 70 each). Self-reported knowledge was assessed using a researcher-developed questionnaire, and anxiety was measured using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Pre-post changes and between-group differences in change scores were examined. RESULTS: Total self-reported knowledge scores increased significantly in both groups (p < 0.01), with no significant between-group difference. The video group showed significant improvements in items related to symptoms requiring attention at home and information sources, whereas the electronic document group improved in items related to symptoms requiring medical consultation and emergency calls. State and trait anxiety did not change significantly in either group. Satisfaction was high in both groups. CONCLUSIONS: Both educational formats may support parents' learning about responses to acute illness in young children, although appropriate formats may differ according to the educational content. Information provision alone may have limited effects on anxiety; therefore, future parent education should incorporate interactive and reassurance-focused approaches. Nutrition and Diet-Related Training and Curriculum in the US Predoctoral Dental Programs.

PURPOSE: Nutrition and diet are vital for oral and systemic health. It is unclear how well US predoctoral dental programs prepare students in nutrition screening and counseling. This study analyzed US dental school curricula on these topics. METHODS: A cross-sectional online survey was sent to the publicly available email addresses of 67 of 72 academic dental deans at US Commission on Dental Accreditation-accredited dental schools. Items assessed availability, modes and hours of instruction, curricular topics, clinical integration, and instructors. Descriptive statistics summarized responses. RESULTS: A total of 21 academic deans responded, for an overall response rate of 29%. Most (85%) of responding academic dental deans reported that nutrition and diet education was mandatory, with none treating it as optional. Of these schools, 83% offered both classroom and clinical training, while 17% provided only didactic teaching. Didactic hours varied; 42% reported 10 or fewer hours. Foundational nutrition topics were common, although dietary guidelines such as MyPlate were reported less often (66%). Oral health-related nutrition content was broadly covered, with all respondents reporting instruction related to caries, erosion, periodontal disease, and oral dysfunction. Counseling content was less consistent, particularly public health nutrition (67%) and the impact of oral dysfunction on diet and nutrition (72%). CONCLUSION(S): Most responding academic dental deans report including nutrition and diet education in their curricula. However, it remains uncertain whether these topics are incorporated at schools that did not participate in the survey. Variability in curricular time, counseling, and teaching highlights the need for clearer competencies and more clinical training. Improving this could better prepare future dentists for common dietary risks affecting oral and systemic health.

Effect of Various Types of Remineralizing Agents on the Remineralization of Mild and Moderate Defects Caused by Molar-Incisor Hypomineralization in Mexican Schoolchildren: A 12-month Follow-up Randomized Clinical Trial.

PURPOSE: Using Laser-Induced Fluorescence (LIF), this study aimed to evaluate the effect of three remineralizing agents on permanent molars and incisors with both mild and moderate Molar-Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) in 8-to-12-year-old Mexican schoolchildren. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this randomized clinical trial, 104 children were selected to participate and then divided randomly into four groups: Group I: control, Oral-B kids (toothpaste); Group II: Fluor Protector (varnish); Group III: Clinpro White Varnish; and Group IV: MI Paste (CCP-ACP). Both varnishes were applied once every four weeks for twelve months for each group. Remineralization was evaluated by LIF at intervals of 1, 3, 6, 9, and 12 months. Paired-sample t-tests and repeated-measures ANOVA were performed, while the Greenhouse-Geisser correction was used to evaluate sphericity. RESULTS: The three test agents used increased the level of remineralization observed at the site of mild and moderate MIH defects over the course of twelve months (p0.001). A similar decrease in average LIF values was observed across the three treatment groups. CONCLUSIONS: The use of both fluoride varnishes and the CPP-ACP toothpaste was observed to promote the remineralization of both mild and moderate MIH defects.

The Effect of Mindfulness-Based Psychoeducation Program on Mindfulness, Self-Compassion, and Forgiveness Tendencies of Patients with Bipolar Disorder: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

This study examined the effects of a mindfulness-based psychoeducation program on mindfulness, self-compassion, and forgiveness in patients with bipolar disorder using a pretest-posttest randomized controlled experimental design. The study sample comprised of 40 patients (experimental group, n = 20; control group, n = 20). A mindfulness-based psychoeducation program was administered to the experimental group, while no intervention was administered to the control group. Data were collected using a personal information form, the Mindfulness Scale, the Self-Compassion Scale Short Form, and the Heartland Forgiveness Scale. The study revealed that the experimental group's mean scores on the mindfulness, self-compassion, and forgiveness scales following the intervention were significantly higher than those of the control group (p < .05). This study found that a mindfulness-based psychoeducation program increased mindfulness, self-compassion, and forgiveness in patients with bipolar disorder. The findings are limited to a small outpatient sample from a single CMHC and may not be generalizable to hospitalized patients with more severe clinical presentations. Mindfulness-based educational programs may enhance mental health, improve illness insight, support symptom management, and strengthen social functioning in individuals with bipolar disorder. The results emphasize the importance of integrating these programs into treatment processes and reveal the necessity for psychiatric nurses to actively implement mindfulness-based interventions. Psychiatric nurses should consider incorporating mindfulness-based techniques into their practice to improve the mental health of individuals with bipolar disorder, better understand the disorder, control symptoms, and improve social interactions.

Effectiveness of symptom map-based education in the management of premenstrual syndrome: a randomized controlled trial.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the effectiveness of a symptom map-based educational intervention for the non-pharmacological management of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), with a focus on symptom reduction among women with differing baseline symptom severity. METHODS: This randomized controlled study was conducted between May and December 2024. A total of 110 women meeting diagnostic criteria for PMS were randomly assigned to an intervention group (n = 55) or a control group (n = 55) using block randomization, and 101 participants completed follow-up assessments. The intervention comprised structured education based on a PMS symptom map and evidence-based self-care strategies. Outcomes included PMS symptom severity (Premenstrual Syndrome Scale), pain intensity (Visual Analog Scale), psychological symptoms (Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21), and PMS-specific life satisfaction. CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: NCT06585475. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, women in the intervention group reported significantly lower pain (adjusted mean 4.21 vs. 6.81, p < .001) and stress levels (8.54 vs. 12.03, p < .001) at follow-up. The intervention was particularly effective in reducing PMS symptom severity and depressive symptoms among participants with higher baseline symptom burden. Improvements in PMS-specific life satisfaction were observed, with reductions in depressive symptoms contributing to this effect. CONCLUSION: A symptom map-based educational intervention is a clinically applicable, non-pharmacological approach for PMS management. This structured education appears especially beneficial for women with more severe baseline symptoms and may be integrated into routine gynecological care to support individualized symptom management.

Pathways of onward HIV disclosure in relationships among young people living with vertically acquired HIV receiving antiretroviral therapy: A qualitative analysis from the BREATHER Plus trial, South Africa.

For young people living with HIV (YPLHIV) navigating their status since birth, managing onward disclosure of a potentially stigmatising condition in relationships is challenging, and may or may not lead to social support, with implications for wellbeing. In a clinical trial setting in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, we investigate how young people living with vertically acquired HIV navigate onward disclosure. Data were from the qualitative component of the BREATHER Plus randomised controlled trial evaluating the efficacy, safety and acceptability of short-cycle dolutegravir/tenofovir-based triple antiretroviral therapy (ART) in young people aged 12-19 years. We analyse data on 35 participants receiving ART engaged in clinical trials at the research site: 29 in longitudinal in-depth interviews (IDIs) and 12 across three focus group discussions (FGDs), including 6 in IDIs and FGDs. The Disclosure Processes Model was applied in the thematic analysis. Pre-disclosure was characterised by social assessments of potential confidants. During disclosure, reciprocal vulnerability and partial information-sharing were employed. Post-disclosure processes entailed linear and non-linear feedback trajectories, impacting future disclosures. The findings show that the study cohort of young people receiving ART navigated many bidirectional disclosure pathways to maintain social connections in relationships, and counselling guidelines need to be responsive to this.
