[Accuracy of triple-diagnosis of the "small" carcinoma of the mamma (author's transl)].

Mammography was carried out in 3,500 patients. Of these 1,800 were examined with plate-thermography and in 450 cytology was done. 12 cases of "small" (10 mm) Ca were found, in 3 cases with thermography. In 4 cases thermography was negative, in one case for technical reasons. Mammography is the method of choice, thermography and cytology are valuable aids.

[Spatial visualisation of an intraductal mamma carcinoma (author's transl)].

Layer radiology was performed in the roentgenographic visualisation of a mainly intraductal (comedo) carcinoma showing a characteristic triangular microcalcified group in the x-ray film. A three-dimensional model was constructed on the basis of this stratified visualisation. It was found to be wedge-shaped, as was to be expected on account of the anatomical conditions, proving that the "triangular principle" can be considered as correct.

[Change in the shape and volume of the secretory cells of the mammae in the course of the secretory cycle].

Changes occurring in the acini due to oxytocin were studied using the vital photometry and the morphometric analysis of materials obtained by biopsy. At the initial stages of the functional activation, the secretory cells become cylindric, their volumes simultaneously increasing. A study of intercellular interrelations using the atropine blockade of cholinoreceptors, revealed the lack of activation of the secretory cycle which suggests the functional dissociation of contractile and secretory functions of the cell alveolar complex.

[Treatment with intratumoral prospidium chloride of cancer of the mammae induced by N-nitrosomethylurea in the rat].

Wistar rats bearing N-nitrosomethylurea-induced mammary tumors received intratumoral injections of prospidium chloride or saline. Each tumor with 30-100 mm2 (the product of the two largest perpendicular diameters) received 20 mg of prospidium chloride diluted in 100 microliter of saline, and increasing amounts of 20 mg of the product in the same volume for every additional 100 mm2 or fraction of tumor. After a week the treatment was repeated in the same way. Control rats received only saline without prospidium chloride. No significant differences were observed regarding the tumor area, total tumor area/rat, and body weight when comparing the rats receiving prospidium chloride and the control rats. Prospidium chloride does not show any direct oncolytic effect upon the experimental model employed.

[Alkaline phosphatase activity in different cellular functional states of the alveolar epithelium in the mamma of the white mouse].

A light optic investigation on localization of alkaline phosphatase activity in the cellular elements of the mammary gland alveoli has been performed in white mice on the 10th-15th days of lactation. The enzymatic activity is revealed by means of Padicula--German calcium--cobalt method. The density of the histochemical reaction product in sections is estimated spectrophotometrically (plug-method), the index of the cellular height (the height of the cell to its width ratio) is appreciated as the index demonstrating the functional state of the secretory epithelium. In secretory and myoepithelial cells of the alveoli the reaction product is noted to deposit with various intensity. An increasing enzymatic activity in the secretory cells is observed at initial stages of the secretory cycle.
