[Structural organization of sigmoid and rectum wall in patients with cancer after use of enterosorbent with adsorbed metronidazole].

Preoperative preparation with enterosorbent SUMS-1 followed by lavage improves microcirculation in the colon wall and decreases issue of toxins and antigens from the colon lumen as compared to lavage alone. Oral use of the sorbents in the presurgical period in patients with colon carcinoma allows to protect lymphatic and blood system from excessive resorption of toxins, bacteria and metabolites and rapidly decrease the degree of the inflammation in the wall of the organ.

[Application of carbon sorbents in the treatment of experimental peritonitis].

Comparative estimation of efficacy of sorpents SKN-1K, KAU, AU-L in experimental peritonitis was performed. Most favourable effect was observed after performance of hemosorption using AU-L. Sorpent KAU caused very pronounced detoxicational effect, but while its application additional correction of the glucose level is necessary, and that's why it is contraindicated in hypoglycemia. SKN absorbs toxic products least actively, but corrects the carbohydrate metabolism indexes better than KAU.

[Effects of the enterosorbent SUMS-1 on isoniazid pharmacokinetics and lipid peroxidation in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and drug-induced hepatic lesions].

The use of the enterosorbent SUMS-1 in the combined therapy for pulmonary tuberculosis patients with drug-induced toxic hepatic lesion arrests the clinical and laboratory manifestations of endotoxicosis, removes antibiotic intolerance, increases the elimination rate of isoniazid, and reduces its distribution scope, the area beneath the kinetic curve being unchanged. The plasma concentrations of primary products and after-products of lipid peroxidation products during enterosorbent therapy decline and the levels of ceruloplasmin and alpha-tocopherol remain unchanged.

[Effect of the enteric sorbent noolit on the psychoemotional status in mice].

The enterosorbent noolit (representing a mineral matrix base with immobilized lithium and silicon compounds) significantly affects the psychoemotional state of mice with depression model induced by prolonged social emotional stress. Noolit administration produces a pronounced anxiolytic and antidepressant effect and reduced the level of behavioral deficiency in the test animals.

[Enteric sorbents potentiate hepatoprotective effect of eplir in experimental toxic hepatitis].

The administration of eplir (a phospholipid-containing hepatoprotector), as well as of the enterosorbents polyphepan and EST-1 (an agent obtained from dry peat extract), to rats with tetrachloromethane-induced hepatitis protect the liver parenchyma against dystrophy, necrosis, and inflammation, reduce hyperfermentemia, decrease the blood bilirubin, ammonia, phenols, and malonaldehyde, and increase the urea content in blood serum, while not fully restoring all these biochemical parameters on the normal level. The treatment of rats with toxic hepatitis by a combination of eplir and enterosorbents is accompanied by a synergistic increase in the therapeutic efficacy of each component, leading to normalization of the biochemical parameters reflecting the functional slate of liver.

[Protective effect of a zeolite enterosorbent in fluorine intoxication].

THE PURPOSE: To reveal the structural basis of protective influence of the natural ceolite enterosorbents in fluorine intoxication. METHODS: Fluorine effect was realized by exposure of 15 rats of Vistar's line in electrolysis shops of an aluminium plant. 15 animals were in normal ecological conditions and consisted the control group. The both groups received the natural ceolite. In the all rats the hysto-stereo-metric structure of intestinal mucosa has studied. RESULTS: The use of ceolite promoted to decrease of necrosis volume and to increase of immune and extrasecretory structure activity in experimental animals after fluorine effect. THE CONCLUSION: The possibility of ceolite enterosorbent use is substantiated as protective means lowering the toxic fluorine effects.

[Chronic diarrhea: pathogenesis and therapy].

Periodical diarrhea is one of the steadiest symptoms of chronic bowels diseases. This term defines an increase of stool frequency (over three times a day) with the excretion of greater amount and more liquid consistency of excrements as compared to usual bowels emptying of the given individual. Diarrhea is considered to be chronic if its duration is over 30 days. Pathogenetic mechanisms of formation and development of chronic diarrheas have a lot in common. As a result, any diarrhea is a clinical manifestation of a disorder of water and electrolytes transportation in the digestive tract. Such disorders appear due to indigestion, absorption and secretion disorders. At that the small intestine and large intestine should be considered as a single physiological unit.

[Clinical course and treatment regimes of Salmonella infection in children].

Salmonella infection in children caused by polyresistant S. typhimurium strains is characterized by a highly severe course with possible complications. In the treatment of young children with salmonellosis the use of the locally manufactured biologically active additive Bektit-M, possessing adsorption capacity, is recommended. The use of this preparation in complex treatment has made it possible to establish its clinical effect and positive influence on the biochemical characteristics of the blood.

[The comparative activity of natural and synthetic enterosorbents in experimental hyperlipidemia].

In-vitro experiments have shown that dietary fibre microcrystalline cellulose and lignin (polyphepan) possess high activity in binding sodium salt of cholic acid. This action is comparable with that of pectin and metamucile. Hypolipidemic effect of microcrystalline cellulose, polyphepan and synthetic enterosorbents carbonates was also seen in hyperlipidemic rats. It is concluded that microcrystalline cellulose and polyphepan hold promise as a dietary supplement for hyperlipidemic patients.

[The use of ferrocyanides for obtaining pure meat production in contaminated areas following the accident at the Chernobyl Atomic Electric Power Station].

The paper reports a new technique of obtaining radioactive Cs-free meat in the regions contaminated with radionuclides as a result of Chernobyl accident. The method is based on specific digestion features of ruminant animals. Ferriferrocyanide compounds are proposed as sorbents. Ferrocene is most efficient when introduced into mixed feed (1-3 g/day for sheep, 3-5 g/day for calves and young bulls) once a day. After that the animals can be fed radioactively contaminated forage and graze on contaminated land.

[The hypolipidemic action of water-soluble enterosorbents of cholesterol and bile acids in an experiment].

Experiments on rats, guinea pigs and rabbits with experimental dyslipoproteinemia have revealed that the new water-soluble high-molecular weight polymers containing digitonin (ED) or a quaternary nitrogen atom (EA) have a more marked hypolipidemic action than cholestyramine and normalize lipoprotein metabolism. The digitonin-containing enterosorbent has been shown to decrease the absorption of 4-14C-cholesterol, while the nitrogen-containing enterosorbent diminishes the absorption of 3H-cholic acid.
