[Iodine metabolism in uranium poisoning according to whole-body radiometry and activation analysis].

Experiments on rats showed that in chronic uranium poisoning the value of the intrathyroid iodine pool changed and time-dependent radioiodine recirculation relationship between the thyroid and the organism was upset. The process of the thyroid adaptation is a complex one, viz. the hormonal capacity of the organism being kept up through an increase in the mass of the thyroid as well as by a higher rate of iodine exchange.

The significance of radiometry in examination of flexibility referring to part lumbo-sacralis of the vertebral column in cases of chronic low back pain.

A drop in flexibility of the vertebral column is connected with chronic low back pain. Qualification of vertebral column flexibility is not so simple. Beside of clinical methods (for example Schober test), we can use a radiological method. Comparing values of Whitman-Fergusson's angle and Cobb's angle for standing and supine-lying position, author has stated a significant drop in elastic properties of the vertebral column in patients with chronic low back pain.

[Whole-body radiometry in assessing metabolism in hypertension].

A study of metabolism of sodium, water and body components in male patients suffering from essential hypertension, with normal body mass and alimentary obesity, has shown an increase in the space of sodium distribution both in absolute and relative values, a decrease in sodium excretion from the body and blood, change in sodium distribution between the vascular and interstitial parts of the space, "dry retention" of sodium in the body. The detected disturbances have been shown to play an important role in the pathogenesis of essential hypertension.

[Sodium metabolism in Wistar rats exposed to chronic isotonic salt load after preliminary protein deficiency in the diet according to radiometry of the whole body with 22-Na].

The long-term preliminary protein deficiency in the diet gives rise to irreversible changes in sodium metabolism in experimental animals exposed subsequently to chronic salt load combined with full-value feeding. Apparently such changes do not go, however, beyond the compensatory potentialities of the body exposed to isotonic salt load, since the systolic arterial pressure does not undergo any material changes throughout the whole experiment.
