An aligning table for use with a 2-dimensional measuring microscope.

Visualization of three-dimensional distribution of drug molecules and subsequent changes during the release process is critical for understanding drug delivery mechanisms as well as designing tailor-made release profiles. This study utilized coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) imaging to examine paclitaxel distribution in various polymer films with lateral resolution of 0.3 microm and depth resolution of 0.9 microm. Raman bands in the CH stretch vibration and fingerprint regions were used to distinguish paclitaxel from the polymers. The detection sensitivity was measured to be 29 mM by imaging paclitaxel molecules dissolved in N,N-dimethylformamide solution. Release of paclitaxel from a polymer matrix was monitored at an acquisition speed of 1 frame/s. Our results show that CARS microscopy can be used effectively for in situ imaging of native drug molecules in a delivery system.

[Contribution of microscopic techniques to anatomical and morphological knowledge on Styrax officinalis L].

The aim of this study was to precise anatomical and morphological features of the species Styrax officinalis with the help of current microscopic techniques, those features being of interest as valuable taxonomic characters. Typical hairy structures were observed on all surfaces of the aerial organs and their location, density and size were specified. Moreover, we demonstrated the occurrence of secretory glands in the leaf blades. These structures were revealed for the first time for this species.

Microscopic studies of the influence of technological conditions on technical parameters of photopolymer flexographic plates.

The quality of printing plates is one of the important factors influencing the accuracy of flexographic printed copies. The essential technological parameters determining the quality of flexographic plates comprise the dot gain, resolution, and profile of the printing elements. In this work, these parameters were studied using stereoscopic microscopy. These studies enabled us to determine the effect of technological parameters of photochemical preparation of flexographic plates on their resolution, tone transfer characteristics, and the profile of printing elements. It has been found that the quality of flexographic plates depends on the time of the preliminary and the main exposure of the photopolymer plates, the time of solvent washout, and the washout brushes height.
